Francesco de Tatti (first half 16th century) - The Bosto Polyptych (detail) (1517). In the collection of the Pinacoteca, Sforza Castle, Milano.
This large altarpiece, which consists of thirteen paintings of various sizes, was originally commissioned by the community of Bosto, near Varese in 1519 to redecorate the apse of the church of Saint Himerius. In the mid-1800 it disappeared from the church; in 1858 it was sold by a junk shop in Milan ended in Las Condes in Chile. Later it came to London where it was auctioned off twice at private gallery sales. In 1970's a Milanese collector bought it and gave it to the Pinacoteca of the Sforza Castle. In spite of all the tribulations it went through over the past couple of centuries, the polyptych was not dismembered. Only the rich gilded frame that held everything together has been lost.

No, I'm not currently on the parade route, but I was in DC last weekend when they were practicing for the Inauguration parade. Truly amazing the amount of security necessary to pull this off. I know this first hand since I was detained by Capitol Police for several minutes while taking frames of the Capitol. Long story.....

Over a 5-day period, Paramahamsa Vishwananda inaugurated a grand temple in Kircheim, Germany, dedicated to Vitthala and Rukmini - the Sri Vitthala Rukmini Shipivishta temple - making it the largest Vitthala temple outside of India.
With 2,000 people coming from all over the world to attend, the majestic celebrations were appreciated by everyone. The local pujari team was kept busy every moment, and one could sense the great dedication they had for their new service.
Guests were immersed in the reverent ceremonies of yajna (Vedic fire rituals) happening in multiple locations, abhishekam (Vedic bathing rituals), and mantra chanting, as well as joyful kirtan (singing), traditional Indian dance, tasty vegan food, and a deep sense of connection to the Divine that was felt throughout the festivities. Near the end, the stunning fireworks display over the lake seemed to express all the excitement, beauty, and awe this unforgettable event contained.
