Imua One is designed to honor eight concepts in Hawaiian culture.

Ohana: Family. Root in relationships.

Honu: Turtle. Move with perseverance.

Aina: Land. Find common ground.

Ama: Support. Connect to strengthen and balance.

Hoku: Star. Guide with purpose.

Kai: Ocean. Harness good energy.

Lokahi: Unity. Succeed with Teamwork.

Imua: Forward. Go forward with strength, courage, and strong spirit.

Since 1971, Southwest Airlines has become well-known for its quirky colour schemes; from the original Desert Gold, the iconic Canyon Blue to the very bold Heart livery.

Southwest Airlines are also well-known for their dedicated and colourful state-themed liveries which began back in 1990, and has continued ever since... Previously, their Boeing 737-300/700s have been dedicated to carrying such colour schemes, however as they begin to age, they understandably get transferred over to other aircraft, more recently onto their Boeing 737-800s and Boeing 737 MAX 8s.

One of the most recent state-themed liveries to appear in April 2023 goes to a Boeing 737 MAX 8 dedicated to the state of Hawaii, Imua One. Rather than paint one of their aircraft in a rather colourful Hawaii state flag like most of the special liveries, the low-cost carrier uses a multi-colour palate going from blue, purple, red, orange and yellow, with the livery also adorned with black visual markings. Imua One's livery is as Southwest Airlines describes it, "The eight central visual elements of the Imua One livery hold significance in Hawaii and at Southwest".

Southwest Airlines describes Imua One as thus, "Imua is a rallying cry in the Hawaiian language that translates to an urging forward, and it underscores a key value at Southwest—Teamwork. And it’s fitting that our aircraft dedicated to our Employees and the Island communities is called Imua One, as this aircraft is a symbol of the partnership between the Hawaiian Islands and Southwest."

Despite Southwest Airlines commencing operations back in 1971, the carrier has only been operating direct flights to the state of Hawaii since 2019, helped with the introduction of their Boeing 737-800s and Boeing 737 MAX 8s which are ETOPS-certified.

Currently, Southwest Airlines operates 795 Boeing 737s, which includes 411 Boeing 737-700s, 207 Boeing 737-800s and 177 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. Southwest Airlines have 189 Boeing 737 MAX 7s and 247 Boeing 737 MAX 8s on-order.

November Eight Seven One Zero Mike is one of 177 Boeing 737 MAX 8s operated by Southwest Airlines, delivered new to the low-cost carrier on 26th August 2017 and she is powered by 2 CFM International LEAP-1B28 engines. She has carried Imua One colours since April 2023.
