It`s an honor, and a pleasure it will be to follow my fellow photographers into the year of 2009, and I wish everybody happy shooting and to be blessed with natures magical light.

This was shot on December 20, the night before winter solstice.

I waited till the last light barely sweeped the horizon and highlighted the details on the waves and pebbles at Larkollen Bay, southern Norway.

My mission was to use the light in a specific way that only the objects just above water surface was lighted, while the body of water itself was cast in shadows.

A tribute to winter solstice you might say ;-)

The winter solstice (vintersolverv) occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at it`s greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observer's hemisphere. This means that from now, the days will be gradually have longer periods of daylight.

Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures have held a recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time.

The word solstice derives from Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).

I wish peace and happiness to every living being.

Base Images: Routemaster Buses by northernblue109

Here is a selection of Routemaster buses digitally-prepared to receive new liveries. All have been modified to (fictional) export specification vehicles of various lengths. Note the different doorway and staircase arrangements (the right hand pair have dual staircases). The front doors came from an RMF-type Routemaster, whereas the rear doors came from an RMC (with hindsight it would have been better to have used the same style of doors throughout). The open rear platform came from an RML (updated 05-Oct-13).
