A great place to stay. Plan ahead and rent a cabin on the rim of the Grand Canyon. From here you can ride a mule down to the canyon floor or just walk down.
The El Tovar Hotel, famous in its own right, is a short walk away along the rim. The rail spur from Williams ends nearby.
Either is a great home base for adventures in the area.
