White flags symbolizes AIR -If meditated upon, white can cut the delusion of ignorance and turn it into the wisdom of reality. The mantras printed on the flags are carried on the wind and believed to spread goodwill and positive energy wherever they go.

Hi everyone... I want to give everyone an update... I still struggle with chronic pain on a daily basis. I have been without a source of income for several months so if you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you. www.flickr.com/people/jax_chile/

An alternative title is 'burnt by ignorance'. For some reason, idiots think it is a good idea to build a barbecue under trees...often with disastrous results, another top cause of forest fires here is dropped litter, loads of it in this location, out of shot. Most people just bag it and go home...some don't even bag it. Many take no responsibility, their mother's will clean up after them

Veil of Ignorance (J. Rawl). Above the Gepatsch reservoir you are quickly in the mountain world with a magnificent view of the foothills of the Southern Hapmeskopf (3,240m) and the Biggspitze (3,453m).

Chickadees have always been a favorite bird of mine. I love their happy singsong trills, and when I see them in the harshest of times (like say, 30 degrees below zero fahrenheit, where you or I wouldn't last the morning), I marvel at their resilience and how happy they seem to be given their circumstances. I still believe they are. But, I was reading a study on their songs, and as it turns out the more intricate they get, the greater the predatorial threat they are warning others of. When you hear "Chicka-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee," a much greater threat is present than if you just heard the ever famous, "Fee-bee." Now, you or I might think a more complex call would mean a bigger predator with a huge beak and scary claws was close by. But, Chickadees know better. A smaller more agile predator would have a much greater chance at pinning a lightning fast Chickadee. For instance, A large Great Gray Owl elicited only two "dees," but a much smaller (but also more aerially adept) Pygmy Owl merited an extra four to twenty-some "dees." I also read that they have words for types of predatorial threats e.g. when you hear them wisp out a "Seet" it warns of flying threats from above. I will always associate their songs with happiness though, to me it is unmistakably so, and for that Bliss is far from Ignorance.

Beautiful fuchsia flowers (sorry for my ignorance about their name) adorn the gardens in my neighborhood, basking in the pleasant light of the setting sun.
In this particular case, I love the striking contrast with the blue background.
I hope you enjoy this photo, and I take this opportunity to wish you a happy Friday.

Simply put, I was born at an unfortunate time to experience railroading. Old enough to be aware of what was out there, but young enough to not devote enough attention to it as it needed. Here is a small sampling of what I should have devoted more time too in my teenage years before it was all over: Soo Line units, DM&E/ICE, Erie Mining chip moves, EJE helpers on Steelton Hill, DMIR units, BN SD60M's and Oakways on coal trains, etc and the list goes on and on. Back then a 2 1/2 hour drive was a long way, whereas when I go shoot the St. Maries now its only a 6 hour trip... perspective. The DM&E/IC&E were cool roads and I sorely wished to have spent more time shooting them. On this day though, I was down with Douglas Hildebrant and Josh Dulak and we bagged two blue and gold triple sets. Imagining triples of these cruising along the Mississippi River is enough to make someone curse. With a SOO caboose as a prop, this merch train was absolutely screaming down the river.
What you don't see is the mountains beyond shrouded by cloud and a common loon yodeling nearby......It was so peaceful until a group of tourists came up shortly after this was taken. I stuck around to see how these fishermen were going to handle it once the loud Chinese tourists stormed onto the dock like they owned the place. (some, not all, have zero respect) One tourist had a Nikon camera and he wanted the fisherman to do some rod action for his photo. The fisherman to the left just ignored him pretending like he wasn't there. ...Ignorance is bliss. Sometimes it is good to make like a stump ;-)
