Fun was had, mustaches (fake and not so much) were worn with seriousness, pride and care. Folks were entertained, sung to and generally had a great time. New friendships made, old reborn. Beer was great, wristbands rocked, presentations on a level never seen before. Every single time it just gets better and better.
This year, the 5th edition of the IGNITE conference on Rebuilding Futures focused on improving access to higher education, developing entrepreneurship and promoting sustainable leadership amongst young people in conflict-affected regions. We heard from refugees, entrepreneurs, education experts, private sector, government and NGO representatives from across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. We shared knowledge on how to rebuild economies and societies.

Tonight I had the opportunity to revisit my role as an event photographer for the Ignite Salt Lake 7 held at Thanksgiving Point. Previously covered by the talented Calanan before he moved out of town, I’ve been able to attend & photo 4 of the last 5 of these great shows. Thanks to Jesse for keeping me on as a supporter and I hope to see many more in the future. There will be plenty of these photos for viewing on the IgniteSaltLake.com site a few weeks from now. For those that have become regular visitors of this site, first thanks! I appreciate feedback and knowing that my daily photos and thoughts are not being completely lost in Internet oblivion! Second, I will be traveling and mainly disconnected from the ‘net for a time, so you will see a delay before I get back on with the posts. Never fear, I will happily be continuing to shoot photos each day but will have to catch up with the posts when I return. I hope to capture some fun memories & sights to share. So don’t leave me…please! :)

IGNITE! Music Festival – the annual Music Festival is currently in its 7th year and it is the biggest local music festival in Singapore, with the theme “Passion and Compassion”. With it being a student-driven project, IGNITE! has successfully established itself to be young, loud and exciting. Aiming to bring the best of local talents in a great music setting.
