Idea leuconoe, the paper kite, rice paper or large tree nymph,[1] is known especially for its presence in butterfly houses and live butterfly expositions. It has a wingspan of 12 to 14 cm. The paper kite is of Southeast Asian origin, but can also be found in Northern Australia and Southern Taiwan.

Larvae feed on Parsonsia species, Tylophora hispida, Parsonsia helicandra, Parsonsia spiralis, and Cynanchum formosanum[2] so both the butterfly and larva are poisonous.

Much more of a drastic description than what actually happened. I never really searched for this engine while passing through Orizaba - it found me, twice.

Once on the highway out of town, and then a couple of nights later taking the slow way towards our Hotel. The conductor, or brakeman was waving a flashing on the back of the rear hopper. I had no idea what it was at first, then it became apparent it was train time. A mile or so east of Patio Orizaba this local goes about its duties for the evening.

Para mi amiga Isa que está de cumple.

Muchísimas felicidades, niña.

I had no idea what I was going to do today for a photo, and then a bulb lit up. Literally. Tesco had some awesome filament bulbs, so we bought a couple. This is not what I envisioned, mainly because I wanted it to be my hand because I knew how I wanted it to look, but I could not figure out how to trigger the shutter because my IR remote is not working. I think I was just too tired to get it perfect.

Sometimes it just doesn't go. It has been a while since I post a picture. I needed a pause. Well, I still need it, time is busy, work is too much, head is without idea. Really looking forward to stillness, when images in head comes together again. It is a lot of fun to port pictures, but only if the world cooperates...

Is 37407 "Blackpool Tower" hauling the Severn Tunnel rescue train in this shot? I'm not sure. Seen here passing Coed Kernew back in 1998. Canon EOS3, Fuji Superior 200.

Almost three years ago we rented a cottage for a week in Norfolk. This was one of those showery April days when we decided to go out for a drive and head for the patches of blue sky to try and avoid the showers. Where the landscape is flat and the skies are huge it's a technique that works, even though we had no idea where we would end up. At least, we saw parts of Norfolk that we hadn't previously visited.

Happy 😊 on Saturday!

rotta Napoli - Palermo

Today I took a stroll through sun-drenched Roma Street Parkland and I came across this rather novel idea, in the form of a man made 'ball' hanging from a ceiling hook. I am going to have a go at doing something similar.

the plant, which contains a mixture of compost and worm 'poo' is enveloped in sphagnum moss then bound with string.

No idea what this is going to grow up in to, but I liked how it looked.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

Gwrych Castle is not a true castle but was built between 1812 and 1822 by Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh as a memorial to his mother’s ancestors. Eventually, the place fell in to ruin until an 11 year old boy saw it one day and thought it should be saved. So he founded Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust at the age of 12 and slowly it is being restored.
