Lo difícil fue ver a la primera foca.
Su color y lo rugoso de su piel la mantenían a salvo de las miradas indiscretas. Era sencillo confundirla con la roca sobre la que descansaba...
Una vez que nuestra mirada aprendió a buscarlas comenzamos a ver focas allá donde hace un momento sólo había piedras...
Y cuando nos topamos con estos bebés de color tan claro ya era imposible que pasaran desapercibidos a nuestras pupilas.
Si algún día necesito dibujar la felicidad creo que recurriré a esta imagen... Cuando la veo me siento la persona más dichosa del mundo. Me invade la emoción que sentí en Ytri Tunga cuando, ya perdida la esperanza, descubrí que estaba rodeada de preciosas y confiadas focas.
Verlas viviendo en su hábitat sin miedo a nada de lo que les rodea me hizo creer por un instante que este planeta aún puede salvarse de los seres humanos. Hoy ya no lo pienso pero fue un consuelo sentir esperanza por un instante...

Yesterday I went to one of my favourite places to photograph the sunset, and what I found was even better than I imagined.
This twisted spire of ice adds a touch of whimsy and individuality to the frozen landscape that is Iceland's Jokulsarlon glacier.
