An event to mark Geoff Whitty's 50 years with the IOE, entitled "The struggle for social justice in education", held on 5 July 2018 at the UCL Institute of Education (IOE).
This event celebrated Professor Geoff Whitty’s long-standing association with the IOE – from trainee teacher to Director Emeritus. We reflect on Geoff’s time at the IOE and his contributions to the field of sociology of education as well as look more broadly at the limits and possibilities for realising social justice in and through education.

The earliest parts of the present building probably date from the late 11th and early 12th centuries. All that remains of this period is the N wall, with its two large Norman arches springing from a central Norman pillar, the N porch doorway, and the lower part of the E (Chancel) wall. The arch to the E of the N porch is the oldest, and leads to the Priory Chapel.
