Yellow is the new red....for today, anyway 😊💛❤️

We have lots of this colourful and interestingly shaped plant in one of our flower beds. It's flowering much more this year.

A macro of a petal of an alstroemeria flower taken using a 36mm extension tube on the end of my macro lens. The colour of course is what I love most about the photo - such a vibrant red! ❤️❤️

FRANCE 2018

Earlier this year we took a wonderful trip to France. We stayed in a small seaside town called Wimereux, between Calais and Boulogne. It was a lovely place, great food, beach and people. We enjoyed the break very much and I took a few photos. Here are a few of them………..

The Pinakothek der Moderne is a modern art museum, situated in the city centre of Munich, Germany. Together with the Alte Pinakothek and the Neue Pinakothek it is part of Munich's "Kunstareal" (the "art district").

Designed by the German Architect Stephan Braunfels, the Pinakothek der Moderne was inaugurated in September 2002 after seven years of construction. The rectilinear facade, dominated by white and grey concrete, is interrupted by large windows and highrising columns, the latter supporting the extensive canopied roof. Each of the four corners of the building, connected by a central rotunda, is dedicated to a special collection. The Museum is thus divided into Art (Kunst), Architecture (Architektur), Design (Design) and Works on Paper (Graphik).

'Beautiful Plunge Pool' Eskdale, Lake District, Cumbria

The stream flowing over the waterfall is Aira Beck, which rises on the upper slopes of Stybarrow Dodd at a height of 720 metres (2,362 ft) and flows north-easterly before turning south, blocked by the high heather-covered slopes of Gowbarrow Fell. It turns south on its eight-kilometre journey to join Ullswater, at a height of 150 metres (492 ft). One kilometre before entering the lake, the beck makes the 20 metres (66 ft) leap down a rocky and steep sided ravine at the falls known as Aira Force. The water falls approximately 22 metres (72 ft) to a rocky pool, from where the beck continues through a shallow valley to the lake

Ritson's Force is one of those magical places that makes you instantly grateful to be alive! The turquoise water is crystal clear and flows into a series of picture perfect swimming holes, it’s the stuff dreams are made of. Unbelievably, despite it being located in Wasdale Head (the start of the trail to Scafell Pike and one of the busiest places in the Lake District) it hides in plain sight and remains something of an unknown.

The weather this week has been amazing: temperature at a very pleasant 23/24 (73/74), sunshine and total blue skies for three days in a row. I spent a couple of hours yesterday sitting by the pool and soaking it all up. Some of you might recognise the chair(s) from London as I've photographed them before but never with a swimming pool behind them! :-))

The Grot is a small, picturesque building or viewing station located on the grounds of Rydal Hall in the Lake District, overlooking a waterfall.

It was built in 1668 by Sir Daniel Fleming and designed as a place to frame and enjoy the spectacular Rydal Falls, reflecting the Romantic and Picturesque movements in art and literature.

The poet William Wordsworth, who lived nearby at Rydal Mount, was a tenant on the Rydal Estate and was familiar with the Grot and the grounds of Rydal Hall.

It's in colour & it's warm inside

Mosedale Beck is a stream in Cumbria which runs into Wast Water, which is the deepest lake in England. Mosedale Beck rises in Little Scoat Fell, it then flows south west until it reaches Ritson's Force waterfall. It then turns to the south and flows through the hamlet of Wasdale Head.

Ullswater is a glacial lake in Cumbria, England and part of the Lake District National Park. It is the second largest lake in the region by both area and volume, after Windermere. The lake is about 7 miles long, 0.75 miles wide, and has a maximum depth of 63 metres

The "Bridgewater orange canal" refers to the Bridgewater Canal in Northwest England, known for its natural, orange color caused by iron oxide in the water. This historical canal, built by the Duke of Bridgewater, is the first true canal in England and features an orange hue, especially near Worsley, due to groundwater containing iron oxide leaching into the waterway.

The "Queen Victoria's Boathouse" in Worsley is actually the Duke of Bridgewater's Boathouse, which was built to house a special barge used by Queen Victoria during her 1851 visit. The boathouse is a Grade II listed building on the Bridgewater Canal that is now a private residence. The barge itself was specifically commissioned by the Earl of Ellesmere for her visit and is sometimes called the "Royal Barge".
