Today one of our local LGBT groups hosted a screening of 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert', along with a panel discussion of LGBT issues and a high-tea, as part of IDAHOBIT. Mrs Rachel and I volunteered to help out, and did the tickets on the door. This is the sight that greeted people as they arrived.
No ticket? No entry!
Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (aka IDAHOBIT for short)
Now more than ever with right wing forces including vile media outlets such as the Murdoch press attacking LGBT & transgender youth, it is more important than ever that we stamp out hate.
I am proud to say that my home is a hate free zone and also I fight against homophobia and transphobia not just for me, but for the LGBT community in my region as a whole.

The rainbow flag has been raised outside Greater Manchester Police’s Headquarters in support of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).
Deputy Chief Constable Ian Pilling, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Jim Battle, Superintendent Wayne Miller and Inspector Jacqui Prest from GMP’s Pride Network joined forces to raise the flag early this morning.
IDAHOBIT takes place on 17 May each year and celebrates the World Health Organization’s decision on this day in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
In addition to raising the flag, a series of events are taking part across the Force, showing support and commitment to equality and diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff and community members.
Deputy Chief Constable Ian Pilling said:
“The diversity of our communities is one of the things that makes Greater Manchester great and I’m proud to stand alongside colleagues this morning and raise the rainbow flag in celebration of it.
“However, we must also remember that homophobic, biphobic and transphobic hate crime unfortunately still takes place and this is completely unacceptable. By raising the flag today we send out a clear message that this kind of behaviour is not welcome on our streets and I encourage anybody who has fallen victim to report it.”
Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Jim Battle said:
“No one should face discrimination, hatred or stigma because of who they are, and that’s why it’s so important to support International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Flying the rainbow flag above police headquarters sends out an important message to LGBT people in Greater Manchester and, indeed, across the country and around the world. It says that Greater Manchester Police takes hate crime seriously, and will treat LGBT people who have been subjected to it with dignity and respect.
“Today is a day of remembrance, as we think of those who have lost their lives to hatred, but it’s also a day of hope.”
To report a hate crime, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, you can report via the True Vision app.

Siete tutti i benvenuti.

An invisible deadly web virus is spreading so the gang came together to raise awareness.
Papa Smurf: Did you know that up til 1990, homosexuality was considered a mental disorder by the World Health Organization (WHO)?
Little Green Man (LGM): Seriously? Humans are so backwards.
Rainbow Teddy (RT): This is why every year on May 17, we have decided to join up and bring awareness on social media.
Tigger: United we stand. To quote a tweet commonly attributed to (an unconfirmed) Morgan Freeman: “I hate the word homophobia. It’s not a phobia. You are not scared. You are an asshole.”
In Hong Kong, homophobia is still a huge problem. For most of my adulthood I have lived in New York mostly as I wish to distance myself from my family in order to not negatively affect them because of who I am.
I hope that one day I can just be.
