IC 1274 is an emission nebula in the Sagittarius constellation, around 6000 light years from earth.
The region is essentially an HII region where star formation is running rampant. In plain English, think of it as a large cloud of hydrogen gas where vast amounts of new stars are forming within it. Because there's ample hydrogen present, a good amount of these stars will grow quite massive. Besides being fun to look at (bright blue stars across a colourful region, what's not to like), they also have a profound effect on their surroundings. The long streaks/lines that you can see within the nebula (like elongated clouds if you will) are essentially their doing (effect of their massive energy output).

L'IC 745, appena partito da Ventimiglia, transita nei pressi di Cervo, trainato dal locomotore E 444R.009, allo volta di Milano Centrale il 30.09.2016.
Na een drukke periode op mijn werk werd vrijdag 30 juni even de Bentheimroute bezocht om treinen te spotten en fotograferen. Zon en wolken wisselden elkaar in rap tempo af en niet elke foto kon daarom in de zon worden opgenomen. Ook de IC naar Berlijn werd deze dag meerdere keren op de foto gezet. In de omloop van deze dag was ook een Vectron opgenomen als opvolger van de de locomotief serie 1700. De locomotieven van de serie 1700 worden volgens plan in december 2023 vervangen door Vectrons.
Met IC 240 is locomotief 193 263 van NS onderweg naar eindbestemming Amsterdam CS.

IC 1504, IC 1506 and CN 4100 sit at Southern Yard in Welland Ontario waiting on a lift to Port Robinson to make the connection to Mac Yard and then Sarnia.
These units were sold to a scrap company before being resold to LDS in Sarnia to avoid the torch and get a new lease on life.

Since 5th September 2022 a third daily IC service runs between the two regional capitals Linz and Graz as was the case last time in 2008. In December 2022 another one will be added on workdays. On a very sunny day, the new IC 506 passes the Schoberpass line while some snow is already covering the mountain peaks.

IC 6251 leads R922 up the grade at Proctor hill in some killer evening light. I was at the A&W in Superior when my friend messaged me that 6251 was leading a train off the docks, I had more food coming but I ran up to the cashier, paid and bolted out. Once I got to the bridge I made it with seconds to spare as I could already hear the EMD rumble.
...Vergangenen Sommer sollte es Mal ins Allgäu gehen. Eins der Ziele dabei war der IC2012 aus Oberstdorf nach Dortmund Hbf. Bei Martinszell konnte der Zug bespannt mit 218 476 und 218 456 kurz vor dem nächsten halt Kempten (Allgäu) Hbf abgelichtet werden. Kurz darauf folgte der EC191 mit 218 430. Diese Relation läuft jedoch anders als der IC nicht mehr über die Allgäubahn, sondern via Memmingen. Und auch die 218 hat vor den EC ausgedient, ersetzt wurde sie durch SBB ETR610

Southbound CR-5 (Mattoon IL-Fulton, KY) is about to cross Conrail's Cleveland-East St. Louis line at Effingham, IL.
CN's L536 local heads south along Lake Michigan on the Illinois Central mainline as it returns from Glenn Yard to Kirk Yard with a pair of IC SD70s.
Now in the Houston terminal proper, the IC SD70 duo is southbound on Main 2 of the West Belt, slowing their way to a stop just ahead at Tower 71.

Mit der samstäglichen Kurswagengruppe aus Hamburg-Altona überquert die 218 405 die schöne alte Brücke bei Fürstenzell/Aspertsham. Hier, im Abschnnitt Passau – Pocking, hat die Rottalbahn den Charakter einer zutiefst provinziellen Nebenbahn, was im Zusammenspiel mit dem Kurswagenzug immer der spannendste Teil einer jeden Fototour dort war.
This is the central part of the nebula IC 4603 surrounding the bright star SAO 184376 which illuminates the blue reflection nebula. IC 4603 can be seen near the very bright star Antares toward the constellation of Ophiuchus. IC4603 is one small part of the Ophiuchus cloud complex. The impressionistic effect is created by large amounts of interstellar dust, minute globs of carbon similar in size to cigarette smoke. This dust frequently occurs in the outer atmospheres of large, cool, evolved stars. Dense dust clouds are opaque to visible light and can completely hide background stars. For less dense clouds, it preferentially reflects blue starlight, effectively marking the surrounding dust boundary. Text borrowed from APOD

Helsinki - Vaasa Pendolino 57 was replaced with IC train hauled by Sr2 3244 due to weather conditions.
101 038 ist mit IC 2183 von Frankfurt/Main nach Karlsruhe bei Heddesheim an der Bergstraße unterwegs. Hinten schiebt die 101 033.
NMBS met een IC trein heeft net Lier station achter zich gelaten voor het laatste stukje naar Antwerpen Centraal.
CN A407 heads north thru Kankakee on the former Illinois Central main with a three pack of IC SD70s leading former BNSF GE and a CN SD70M-2 for power.
The classic IC Kankakee depot made for a nice addition to the shot as well.
A40891 22 looking more like an Illinois Central train than one from Candian National catches a patch of sun that would turn out to be the last bit of sunlight this train and would see on this particular afternoon. The quad set of IC SD70s would spend the rest of the afternoon working Effingham yard before continuing their journey south toward Centralia Illinois.

Ab Oberstaufen fällt die Allgäubahn zum Bodensee hin stetig ab. So schlängeln sich 218 488 und 218 824 am 30.12.2019 ohne große Mühe mit dem IC 119 durch die S-Kurve bei Heimhofen.
With about 12 hours of planning, Ryan and I decided a weekend trip to the Iron Range was due. Our first day was killer. Our first train had an IC on lead and we caught the BLE trio not long after. Here, U717 is headed back to Proctor with a steaming load of taconite.
