I planted Hydrangeas for my Birthday this year.
They remind me of my Aunt and they will be my remembrance to my Uncle.
#AbFav_END_of_SUMMER_🏫👩🏫
The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.
Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.
Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.
Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.
So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.
HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.
Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

Landon Pigg - Can't Let Go
The hydrangea in my garden appear to be doing quite well this year. This particular one has produced an ‘ice-cream cone’ shaped bloom that was over 30cm long! That’s one foot long of beautiful, mellow creamy-white little flowerlet’s! I have another one that is quite similar in appearance but some of its little flowers have a pinky-red edge to them.
I love hydrangea!
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blaumeise' is a stunning lacecap hydrangea known for its vibrant blue flowers and adaptability to various garden settings.
This variety features large, flat flower heads that can reach up to 9 inches (22 cm) across, with cobalt blue florets surrounding a central cluster of tiny fertile flowers. In alkaline soils, the flowers may turn a soft pink colour. The plant has coarsely toothed, glossy dark green leaves that frame the flowers.
'Blaumeise' thrives in partial shade but can tolerate full sun if the soil remains moist. It is best suited for rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils. The plant prefers acidic to neutral soil for optimal blue coloration. To maintain the blue hue, gardeners can add aluminum sulfate to the soil. Conversely, adding lime will shift the colour towards pink.
Ensure the soil is kept evenly moist, as this hydrangea is not drought-tolerant. Mulching around the base can help retain soil moisture and protect the roots.
Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth for the next season. Avoid heavy pruning in late autumn to protect the buds from frost damage.

This week in SSC let's use a "Shallow Depth of Field"
Your subject can be anything. I would like to see a real shallow depth of field in your photo with your subject in focus and your background nicely blurred.
Please keep post-processing to a minimum this week.
I decided to make the lone leaf the centre of attention for this picture rather than the flowers. I was going to attempt this shot outside, but constant thunder storms and torrential rain soon put a stop to that idea, seems we’ve had a one in a thousand your weather event here this week. The weight of the rain on the bushes had started to knock over the large hydrangea blooms, not to be put off, and not wanting the flower heads to be ruined I cut them off and put them in a vase indoors. Needless to say it’s not the only vase now, we’ve got a house full of them, all rescued from the weather.
The vase is stood in front of a window with trees outside, the reflection of the flowers can just be seen blurred out in front of the green of the trees.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
It is the high season of hydrangea blooms, and because of the Covid-19 shutdown, I've had more time to observe the day-to-day changes. What fascinates me most, besides the different stages of blooms, is the way one can alter the color of blooms from pink to blue and in-between. It all depends on the acidity or alkalinity of the soil, In fact, hydrangea blossoms are not flowers at all, but specialized sepals, or leaves, They act like nature's litmus paper, although the colors are opposite: pink for plants grown in alkaline soil, and blue for those in acidic soil. it is not unusual to see these opposing colors in the same plant, depending on the varying acidity of the soil the roots feed from.
