'I can bring a change, I can bring the thunder and the rain,

Everything around me, everything will rearrange.

I'm coming back like a hurricane,

I'm gonna take you higher.

On a cloud of silver haze,

I wanna take you higher,

Away, away, away.'

Big Sur, California

I wanna wake up

With your weight by my side

And I wanna think that

You look good as you rise

And I wanna turn to you

Turn around by your side

And I wanna think

But not to say

Let me face

The sound and fury

Let me face

Hurricanes

And I wanna see you

As you walk through the door

And time will make us

Some ways less and some ways more

And I wanna talk of nothing

As the world passes by

And I wanna think

But not to say

Let me face

The sound and fury

Let me face

Hurricanes

Happy Holidays Everyone and Happy 2009

This was from a short holiday I took last week during the holidays to Olympic National Park up on Hurricane Ridge. I had a blast in the colder temperatures and barely made it out my car or up the hill. I do not think I have seen that much snow in my whole life.

This was shot at f/22 to achieve the sunburst that I wanted without too much sun flare.

Thanks for any comments or critiques

I've backpacked all of the Ozark Highlands Trail in Arkansas, and the section which runs along Hurricane Creek is easily my favorite.

These pine stumps show how far the beach erodes during hurricanes. (Hurricane Michael was the latest in 2018.) This beach is 2-3 feet lower than it's previous level.

One of the best places to get a view of the olympic mountains in Olympic National Park is Hurricane Ridge if you can visit on a sunny day. We lucked out and conditions were sunny the day we visited but hazier than I would have hoped for. I have way too many images from this day to sort through but here are a couple of my favorites so far. These views aren't of the more impressive olympics but of some mountains to the North and West.

I went up on Hurricane Hill at Olympic National Park a couple weeks ago and saw lots of black-tailed deer.

I arrived at the trailhead right around sunrise. I didn't see another person on the hill, except for some workers on my way back down.

Apparently, they closed the trail and the guy who put up the "road closed" sign was right behind me as I drove to the trailhead. They told me I would be the last hiker on the trail until mid-August (and the only one that day).

The world seems very big from the vantage point of Hurricane Ridge on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.

I found this in a field near where I live. It's a fibreglass replica of a Hurricane P2973. I think it's probably an old display model from Eden Camp in Malton.

I tried to create a period photo, using different layers and blending techniques.

Hurricane Ridge, seventeen miles from Port Angeles WA, is the most easily accessed mountain area within Olympic National Park in Washington state. In clear weather, fantastic views can be enjoyed throughout the year. The Ridge has a number of hiking trails, from ridge top traverses to steep trails that descend to subalpine lakes and valleys. During the winter months, snow enthusiasts enjoy the winter scenery, along with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledding. My wife and I hiked for hours on the trails, we earned a beer or two after a full day exploring. We live in Victoria on Vancouver Island and Port Angels is only 22 miles away by ferry. We can see the Olympic Mountain range in the background of this photo quite clearly, a spectacular view from our city.

With hurricane Ophelia arriving in British Isles. With the unusal coloured skies as seen from our back garden, I photographed the setting sun at around 5pm. I could see a small sunspot & flare coming off sun's limb at 3 o'clock position (on the sun). Click to enlarge :)

Panoramic view of the Olympic National Park at Hurricane Ridge.

The Hurricane Ridge is named for its intense gales and winds, the weather in the Olympic Mountains is unpredictable.

The road to the Hurricane Ridge is very steep and needless to say I was very apprehensive while riding up there. Once we arrived, the clouds had formed above the mountains obstructing their visibility, nevertheless the view was spectacular. We went around the place for a while, took some pictures, well a lot of pictures, than started to descend the mountain not fast enough for me.
