Better be watched by an animal than a nosy man.

House Finches can be found year-around in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, but they will move to another area if a food source is not readily available.
This picture was cropped from my picture taken at Lake St Clair Metropark.
From the second level of the observation tower, we surveyed the impoundment at Ding Darling NWR. There were very few birds to observe. Below us, amid the tangle of mangrove branches and various weeds, we noticed movement. Out popped this Green Heron onto a branch. He stabbed at something in the water and I took this shot just as he raised his head.
I watched these two young barn swallows, perched on the branch. They sat pretty complacently, looking in opposite directions, but when an adult flew anywhere near, those mouths would open, and they'd face the same direction! Fun to watch!
A friendly hello from this squirrel. Actually he knew I had peanuts.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

I've had a family of thirteen-lined ground squirrels living in my back yard for many years. This female must have had her babies this week as I noticed she suddenly appeared slimmer and she's always scouting for food. These squirrels typically have a litter of 8-10 pups, weighing about 0.1 oz. at birth. Stripes begin to form at about 12 days, and eyes open at about 28 days at which time they leave the burrow to explore the world outside.

Anna's hummingbird (Calypte anna) is a medium sized hummingbird (3.5-4.5") native to the West Coast of North America. The reddish throat and head of the male looks dull brown or grey when not in direct sunlight. Seen in one of the garden beds at the San Diego Zoo. Conservation status: least concern
A huge field of tulips at the "Gardens of the World“ Berlin - a pleasure for everybody who were longing for colours after a long grey winter.
Tulip lovers are kindly invited to view my album "Tulips“.
