Amnesty International (commonly known as Amnesty or AI) is an international non-governmental organization which defines its mission as "to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights." Founded in the UK in 1961, AI draws its attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international standards. It works to mobilize public opinion which exerts pressure on individuals who perpetrate abuses. The organization was awarded the 1977 Nobel Peace Prize for its "campaign against torture" and the UN Human Rights Prize in 1978, but has received criticism for both alleged anti-Western and alleged pro-Western bias.
The American Red Cross of Massachusetts served a record 1,364 families on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Red Cross supporter Sonia Alleyne brought over 20 members of the Church of the Holy Spirit with her to volunteer for the day.

Executive Summary for the State of Oklahoma
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, the “Oklahoma Food Banks,” are the largest private hunger-relief organizations in the state. Food Banks are the single most important source of food for Oklahoma's hunger relief agencies. Volunteers are the backbone of our work and one of our most valuable resources in the fight against hunger.
This report provides a comprehensive look at hunger in Oklahoma and how the Oklahoma Food Banks and their partner agencies are working together to understand and address the needs of Oklahomans who find themselves in need of food assistance. The information found in this report includes results from Hunger in America 2014, a nation-wide study conducted by Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States. Additional data was provided by state and national reports on poverty and hunger. The information is used to help guide the development of programs and solutions that improve food security for individuals and their households and inform public awareness and policy development for addressing hunger in Oklahoma.
Campus Ministry at the University of Saint Mary hosted a Hunger Awareness event on April 9, 2014, wrapping up an entire week of hunger awareness activities.
Members of the Hunger Awareness Team discussed food security and world hunger statistics, and attendees drew slips of paper to determine what and how they would eat.
Two attendees were served a steak dinner at a finely set table and a handful of others ate pizza at smaller tables. The majority, though, ate rice and beans without utensils, while seated on tarps on the floor. This division of foods and eating situations was to represent the percentage of the world population with various levels of food security.
After eating, attendees passed around a microphone and discussed their feelings about the event and the lot that they drew.

The book is hand stitched by yours truly and elsewise created in InDesign. It has 76 pages and is lightly inspired by Norwegian famous author Knut Hamsun's book also called Hunger from 1890.
