But seriously, with the Great Resignation and the trend of quiet quitting affecting organizations all over, now is not the time to skimp on good onboarding. Just in case you need some convincing, let’s look at the numbers. Data shows us that 20% of employee turnover happens in the first 45 days of the job. Employees are also 18 times more committed to an employer when they had a good onboarding experience. Not only that, good onboarding can improve employee retention by as much as 82%. However, only 12% of employees think their organization has good onboarding. That last number even shocked us and we’re complete nerds for onboarding. For roughly two years I’ve been charged with writing expert content for our loyal “HR” readers. For roughly two years I’ve argued that “HR manager” is absolutely the wrong word.
