I took a photo a few years back, of a window covered with frost that I "rediscovered" not too long ago. Temperatures have been cold lately...cold enough to leave a nice coating on the older windows of the house that don't see much soon. So I decided to have another go at it. This one looks neat large - you can see the ice crystals. No editing except a slight crop.
Through a frost covered window...
Jack Frost
By C.E. Pike
Look out! Look out!
Jack Frost is about!|
He’s after our fingers and toes;
And all through the night,
The gay little sprite
Is working where nobody knows.
He’ll climb each tree,
So nimble is he,
His silvery powder he’ll shake.
To windows he’ll creep
And while we’re asleep
Such wonderful pictures he’ll make.
Across the grass
He’ll merrily pass,
And change all its greenness to white.
Then home he will go
And laugh ho, ho ho!
What fun I have had in the night.
I took this photo a few years ago. I rediscovered it recently while going through some files.
I'm sure every one is sick of my frosted window photos, but it just looked so neat with all the refractions and reflections of the sun shining through it.
Canadian House & Home magazine 4/08:
This feature is the right thing at the right time. A decorator and an editor who both love (and collaborate on) Indian-inspired, color-saturated interiors. I'll snapshot the issue and put up more later. This is from the website, houseandhome dot com.

Fiesta is a style of dinnerware by Homer Laughlin. It first appeared in the 1930s and was produced until 1973. In 1986, the line was reissued in a range of contemporary colors.
And if you haven't already guessed it, my dishes are all fiesta ware! I like to mix and match the 15 or so colors that are available....
still admire this house a great deal, a big turquoise wall when the other color begins to overwhelm the eye
KCMODERN friend, Scott Butterfield did some serious scan work of 'The House that HOME Built' brochure to let us share it with our readers. The promotional brochure was designed and printed by NBC for participating builders to use in their marketing of the 'HTHB.' Kansas City Modern Builder, Don Drummond gave the brochure to Scott's parents in 1955, when they were thinking about having Don build them a house. Don Drummond signed the back cover for Scott at a soiree during the Drummond Weekend in 2006.
Also note the math notation on the last image from 1955 to Scott's parents, "1680 square feet x $15 per square foot = $25,200." That is not a bad price for a Jones and Emmons designed home that was also built by Joseph Eichler. That would be $200,000 to $275,00o in today's dollars depending on what conversion you use. I would hate to have to try to build it today for $275k!
Enjoy 'The House that HOME Built' in all its Mid-Century Modern goodness!

Homeowner wanted more natural light in the kitchen. Eliminate the tight opening between the kitchen and family room. Create an elegant, clean, modern look with marble counter tops. Add more drawers and tall storage. Build the refrigerator into the wall cabinetry. Single window was replaced with a triple unit, allowing natural light to flow through kitchen. Under-cabinet LED lights installed for energy efficiency. Dove White cabinets coupled with Calcutta Gold marble and Crackle White subway tile brought all the elegance the homeowner wanted to achieve.
