Today would be Rachel Carson's 107th birthday. 'The Sea Around Us' didn't make that much of an impression to me as a University student. Nature and conservationism was not at the top of my hedonistic list.
I'm older now and as a recovering hedonist have a lot of time to reflect. I have to admit I am a little bit worried about the state of the Earth we will be leaving our future generation with.
What if one day, 'nature' will only exist as pixels?
SL is a reflection of our real desires. What do I desire now? I desire summer and to be nowhere in the city. (It's winter here my side of the world).

The design of this altered house include a combination of my favorites 3 carfts areas:

* Sewing: Inspiration by the style of the book "Sew Pretty Homestyle" - Tone Finnanger.
Here is Egg Benedict (whole egg) with Hollandaise sauce. The rest of us had a healthy version made with scrambled egg whites only.

Touton is a type of fried bread, and it comes across as a donut, but with the chewiness of bread. They seem to be deep fried, and are traditionally served with molasses. Bologna is also a very popular meat option on the Island, and you'll see it on almost every menu. These are all based on traditional Newfoundland cuisine, homestyle, simple, inexpensive, basic ingredients and processes. On this trip, wherever we could, we tried to sample the unique and local food types, and we had many wonderful experiences.
Mainly a driving day. From St. John's, after picking up some supplies for the trip, we made our way on the backroads to South Conception Bay, hoping to catch those stunning coastal views Newfoundland is so famous for, and we did. We made a short stop at Topsail Beach, and then made our way to Brigus, home of one of our favourite TV shows, Rock Solid Builds on HGTV. A nickname for Newfoundland is "The Rock." After visiting Brigus, where we had an unfortunate delay for lunch (the entire process took us around 2 hours), we had to beeline it to Gander, where we stayed the night.
Tiny Bungalow Kitchen. Yep. Washing dishes in the afternoon requires sunglasses. There's also a great view of the chickens.

This is my version of sambal cockles after eating them in KL, West Malaysia. Really, this turned out to be pretty good. I had used some of the pre-prepared sambal blachan that ER and I cooked for “popiah” lunch.
ER made use of some remaining radish cake to cook this meal. Yummy! This was different from hawkers’…more ingredients were used to prepare the radish cake and no chopped preserved radish was added.
These beancurd/tofu puffs are light and spongy.
I used them for "stuffed beancurd puffs". These are also commonly used in laksa/curry noodles, "rojak" and "kway chap", local dishes in SG.
1.5 story side gabled bungalow with gabled dormer, bump out on the right - most likely in the dining room. This type of roof line shows off your choice of shingles and type of roofing. Color coordination is important.
