Brian helped me mount new minimalist baseboard. I was surprised how cheap and easy it was to rent a potentially lethal weapon for a day. No fingerprinting or DNA swabs necessary!

Nailgun-related injuries have tripled in the past 15 years, due primarily to the availability of less expensive nailguns. It seemed difficult to be injured by this thing, as long as you treated it like a nailgun.

We used a SkilSaw across the top to open thing up.

drywall turned into pudding.

I removed the temporary countertops for the last time in preparation for the new countertops being delivered in the morning.

In the process of moving the sheets of wood I had made a "knocking" sound which Zeus believed was someone at the garage door. He patiently waited there for a number of minutes before giving up.

Inside the garage after the majority of the work was done to prepare it for new concrete tomorrow.

I installed shelves in my craft closet today. Though I am handy if I try, I usually let J handle any home improvement that requires moving parts.

The hall bathroom in our 1983 house needed a little facelift, and while it's still not ideal, it's miles better than it started out!

An drain in the below-grade stairwell just outside the exterior basement door (top right, with snake emerging from it). Water from the upstairs bathroom tub, sink and (ick) toilet, rather than going down into the sewers as it should have, had backed up into the stairwell, seeping in under the door and flooding the basement.

To do the wiring, we had to (of course) shut down the hallway light.

The pour was delayed a day but it finally got completed today.

Here is how it looked before.

Countertop is gone. We'll need to sand down the backsplash line.

You've wondered what the Marmoleum I'll be putting down soon looks like. Well, here it is, laid out for my feline master's amusement: the darker is "arabesque" and the lighter is "virgin blue". I have no idea how they arrived at either of those names.

The Pit at Home, Tadworth

after a months-long struggle with lack of motivation and paint stripper, the bike room is painted! and the nasty carpet has been removed! now all that's left is to sand and paint the window frames, the windows themselves, pull & paint the baseboards, nail in some quarter round trim, and either re-finish the floor or call it 'done'.

B.C. One last look at our naked cabinets.

Did some paint touch-up work and then put in a few baskets and racks from Target, our home away from home.

Rain started in the afternoon so the pour was delayed a day.
