Detail over toward the -- hey, that's a nice fence!

I got tired of the mice that moved under this old wood landing so after work today I tore it up filled the hole with gravel and sand and put paver stones on it -they are a little wobbly but a few godd rains and they will be fine. Take that mice!

If you want to change the look of your room but want to keep the old fabric, you should consider sofa upholstery. There are many kinds of fabrics on the market today, from leathers and microfiber to microfiber and more. They are all pretty much the same and work on the same premise - to keep furniture look good while making it easy to clean.

Behind the radiator, clear demarcation of "cleaned" and "not cleaned" areas...

The pour was delayed a day but it finally got completed today.

Busy morning around the homestead, Trypod assisting, with the home improvements & repairs...

I haven't gotten around to putting something up on this wall yet, but I wanted to show you tom's cool recycled-fence shelf.

With my commute being so crappy, I work from home at least once a week now. My old work area was just not comfortable. So the home office underwent a major revamp. Much happier with it now.

Here is how it looked before.

Awhile ago I'd said I wanted to get another shelf and a second basket for the pantry shelving systeme -- that happened yesterday. When I was reassembling I realized one more shelf was overkill since baskets are large (and it's good to have a couple wider spaced shelves for things taller than soup cans) but figured I could put the shelf at the bottom so the soda cases aren't on the floor and the legs have better stablization. So now the shelving is how I wanted it.

The green sticker on the upper right, which was put on the basket by the clerk at The Container Store to appease the unseen forces of security, says "Another organized customer." Yeah, if only that was true beyond the shelving... :)

We're taking out this weird little planter that mostly just impeded parking and access to the backyard.

Posted for those who keep hearing about the bathroom remodel I did last year (with little additions over time). Metal theme is brushed nickel.

Switchplate and paint: Lowe's

Art and jars: IKEA (and yes, you never know when you'll need M&M's)

Light: Costco

Vanity, vanity top, medicine cabinet, faucet: Building Materials Outlet

Toiletries: Ross Dress For Less

At the end of the first day of installation.

After the first pass of stripper and sanding. I missed that step in the middle, somehow.

Home renovations are sometimes exciting, sometimes challenging and often expensive. When it comes to keep your remodel on track and on budget, it's important to hire a potential contractor who can be trust worthy to you and to your home. Search for skilled contractors @ HireContractor.com

As part of prep for the upcoming electrical work for the building I needed to remove enough concrete so the electricians could run the trencher between the house and building. I still had the saw blade from the last time I needed to cut up some concrete so I only needed to rent the saw.

Now that I've learned that new style Marmoleum has to be put in left-to-right with the left tile wedged up so that it can be knocked into place with the facing tile, it goes down smoother than Jägermeister. With about as much choking and eyes watering.

But as you see, my next task is to move the glut of stuff from the other half of the room somewhere (this includes two full 6' bookcases, one full 3' bookcase, and several empty ones of both sizes) and take up the carpet. That is Wednesday's task. So you can see the status of things -- the random pattern of tiles is progressing. I have drawn a grid on a piece of paper and used two colored pencils to map out what goes where to be more effective in my pseudorandom placement.

Another shot of the room, this one shows the new window casing & sill which D built.

Luba is investigating.

This is one of those new fangled low-flow toilets. Where I live the regional government gives a massive rebate to encourage water conservation so this ends up costing us like $8.00 ha ha ha.

We had the nasty old carpet ripped up from the stairs and the steps refinished. Next up - painting the risers and trim.

After: Rear corner of house

The overall view showing the window treatments and house numbers. Painting the door will be the final detail.

Venetian blinds is the typical vertical blinds, which are made from thin strips of wood that are attached to the bottom edge of a window. These blinds provide very little privacy and are more suited for bay windows or smaller rooms where a more dramatic window treatment is needed.

Master bath remodel. Winter 2007.

Once upon time, in a quiet village, stood a small bungalow, which suffered from neglect because its owners didn't have any money to maintain it properly. A sign "for sale" had been standing in the front garden for a very long time, but nobody was interested since the bungalow was of very modern design, which was a sharp contrast to the rest of the historic village. Day after day the wood rotted away and nature slowly took over the garden, until only a complete make-over could help the bungalow to survive...

Now Bis has more room to sit on the windowsill

wish we could replace bathtub with a soaker - oh well, at least the room will be updated and no more leaks!

Grandpa came and helped on the third day. We got a lot done but there's probably 2 more day of work left. About half of the remaining sheets can be hung without needing the lift but another rental will be needed at some point.

We had some landscape rearrangements at the family cottage in Argyll recently. View from the kitchen window as Alistair expertly guides his 28 tonne Liebherr digger. Take that, rising damp!

We got an evening wood delivery for our summer projects. First step will be replacing the flooring in our living room. The rest will be used in the outbuilding.

The transformation from stark white with some color. This will the the accent-wall for this room. This is the opposite wall from the TV wall.

Behind the radiator, before I cleaned.

The use of stair carpets has been around for many years. Carpets are useful in homes because they provide safety and are easy to clean. Stair-carpets are usually referred to as stairs stair-carpets, or sometimes stair-tops, by the layman.
