Before. Double towel rack and stray art.

Once upon time, in a quiet village, stood a small bungalow, which suffered from neglect because its owners didn't have any money to maintain it properly. A sign "for sale" had been standing in the front garden for a very long time, but nobody was interested since the bungalow was of very modern design, which was a sharp contrast to the rest of the historic village. Day after day the wood rotted away and nature slowly took over the garden, until only a complete make-over could help the bungalow to survive...

Jim's put in some boards on the back wall for the shelf on the right and the vertical barrier in the middle.

The completed bench, with paint.

Our office after redecorating and painting. It's almost all Ikea except the high cabinets. Changed the light fixture, put up Ikea panels on closet, new Ikea desk, chair, rug, and paperwork organizers!

These always bugged me. Today, they go.

Our new kitchen goes from a little too country to a little more rock 'n roll.

So I got the start of the steps on the deck, they are going to go all the way around, I swear!

I took the sign apart so I could repaint the individual parts.

One of the things in need of repair are the drain pipes for the house downspouts. Over the last 50 years the current pipes have been crushed flat by the growing trees.

Reverse shot. Look -- unobstructed hallway, and lightswitch at the end of the lighted area. There's a bit of visible carpet patching on the left side, but given that we plan to redo the flooring in the next 6-9 months ...

We've removed the headers over the door (since they are a foot too short). We've also started running new electrical -- moving the hall light switch to the right hand side, plus adding a switched outlet to power a light inside the closet space.

However, they are also helpful to keep organized and simple to grab other household products. (So long as they contain a nice quantity of metal, such as drill bits, scissors or paper clips.)

One of my Christmas presents, a new water-efficient showerhead

Rain started in the afternoon so the pour was delayed a day. The forms were inspected by the city too.... after our neighbor complained.

A mistake with the outbuilding was not having concrete in front of the man door. We're having that put in finally but it'll be big enough to allow a car to be parked here.

All but 2 small pieces of the lower row are hung. The other exception is the sheets going on the framed rooms. That could be done later without a lift. It will also allow more light into the main room by not closing off 2 windows.

With assistance from Grandma and Grandpa we have nearly finished pulling up the old wood.

All work dependant on a scissor lift was completed today!

So, as a note, the walls were fully textured behind the old cabinet. Good to know when we do work downstairs.

Stage 2 of a bathroom update...

View from D's office into the server closet. (Yes, we have a server closet in our home. We're just that dorky!)

Note the old door frame and molding. And icky carpet.

You can also see part of the bathroom.

I've been holding out for a plasma for a long long time. I've never had the space for it really. This room use to be cluttered with home office furniture which did not make this room convenient to have such a TV. Well with the revamp the home office underwent, it freed up a lot of space, so I took the plunge and got the TV I had been eyeing for a while. This room is a much nicer room for relaxing and watching TV now.

Here is how it looked before.
