I spotted this Tortoise and his Human Pal taking an ocean-front walk along the cliffs of Palos Verdes California. One thing about California, you will usually find something interesting or unusual, even when you're not looking for it : )
The Tortoise:
Tortoises are "cold-blooded," meaning their body temperature varies with the surrounding environment. They are also herbivores, meaning they eat plants. Tortoises are found in a variety of habitats, including deserts, forests, grasslands, and swamps.
There are over 300 species of tortoises, and they come in a wide range of sizes. The smallest tortoise is the speckled padloper tortoise, which is only about 4 inches long. The largest tortoise is the Galapagos tortoise, which can grow to be over 150 pounds.
Tortoises are long-lived animals. Some species can live for over 100 years. The oldest known tortoise is a Galapagos tortoise named Jonathan, who is over 190 years old.
Here are some interesting facts about tortoises:
Tortoises have been around for over 200 million years.
The largest tortoise ever recorded was a Galapagos tortoise named "Johnathan" who weighed over 500 pounds and was over 190 years old.
Tortoises are very good at conserving water. They can go for long periods of time without drinking.
Tortoises are not very good swimmers.
Tortoises are very social animals and enjoy spending time with other tortoises.
Tortoises can be very affectionate and make great pets.

Smaller and more slender than female Golden Whistler. Forages fairly low in dense vegetation such as mangroves, wetter forests, or swampy woodlands. Common song a ringing, two-noted whistle. (eBird)

A small, plain bird hiding in the early morning gloom and whistling his early morning song. He didn't really want to be seen, but I got him anyway.

The formation of Dissing+Weitling
Professor Arne Jacobsen founded his ground-breaking architectural firm in Copenhagen, Denmark in the 1930s. Hans Dissing was Office Manager for Arne Jacobsen, while Otto Weitling worked as Associated Partner on the firm’s German projects. Following the death of Arne Jacobsen in 1971, Hans Dissing and Otto Weitling were requested to continue the work on Arne Jacobsen’s many projects, amongst them Danmarks Nationalbank.
International outlook
Dissing+Weitling completed several projects started by Arne Jacobsen. Showing an aptitude with international projects, Dissing+Weitling built the Mainz City Hall in Germany, a holiday resort on the north German island of Fehmarn, and the Danish Embassy in London. In 1972, Dissing+Weitling also won competitions for the IBM Centre in Hamburg and the Art Gallery North Rhine-Westphalia in Dusseldorf, establishing the Dissing+Weitling name in its own right.
Today, Dissing+Weitling works worldwide and our portfolio includes projects in more than 40 countries.

John Clare
Farmer's Boy
He waits all day beside his little flock
And asks the passing stranger what's o'clock,
But those who often pass his daily tasks
Look at their watch and tell before he asks.
He mutters stories to himself and lies
Where the thick hedge the warmest house supplies,
And when he hears the hunters far and wide
He climbs the highest tree to see them ride--
He climbs till all the fields are blea and bare
And makes the old crow's nest an easy chair.
And soon his sheep are got in other grounds--
He hastens down and fears his master come,
He stops the gap and keeps them all in bounds
And tends them closely till it's time for home.
The riddle of the Sphinx.
'What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs in the evening? ' The answer? Man, who crawls as a baby, walks on two legs as an adult, and uses a walking stick in his twilight years. In Greek mythology Oedipus correctly answered this prompting the Sphinx to inexplicably drown herself.
More famously these days, American tourists naturally ask why the ancient Egyptians built the Pyramids so close to Macdonalds. The good news for them is that Pizza Hut is now even closer, easily accessible to men of any age. In this photo Pizza Hut is just a few steps behind me.

I laughed so hard downloading this picture. The winds were crazy and this already hot blooded horse was in fight or flight mood from the high winds. His hair sticks straight up making it him look goofy and he is in quite the mood.

Our hunt in the Boreal forests north of Quebec city gave us 5 sightings of porcupines. Here is one that was out in the open; walking down the side of a gravel logging road that we were driving on.
I drove out past him and then laid on the opposite shoulder of the road and awaited his approach. ((hoping he wouldn't cut off into the woods before he reached my location ))

With all that is happening and all the social media posts, all the news... No one is asking or saying, what I am going to say:
How can I Steve Bond change the narrative?
What can I do to end police brutality?
How can I help make things better for those who are not heard?
It is 2020, no place in the world for racism!
