Today I got copies of my xrays from my little adventure of falling off a horse. This was the first xray when everyone thought I had some sort of muscle spasm. The fracture is on my left (the right on the picture), it's snapped off below the ball bit.

Things are coming along nicely now, hopefully I'll be back on my bike at the weekend, without falling off I hope!

The leaf is to preserve my modesty, obviously that was not there when xrayed lol

Matthew and Tim ready for action!

This person who is 50 +, a known Ankylosing spondylosis patient had undergone BOTH HIP BI-POLAR REPLACEMENT else where 7 years before.

Now he had come with pain , shortening and inability to walk using his left lower limb.

On further evaluation , he was diagnosed with severe OSTEOPENIA (bone weakness) and LEFT HIP PROTRUSIO .(LEFT HIP WALL GOING INSIDE PELVIS.)

We took him for surgery.

Expected difficulty.

We have to remove the old implant without damaging the Pelvis and it was very challenging. Took 2.30 hrs for extracting the metal head alone without damaging the Pelvis.

REVISION THR was done using a special CAGE . The empty cavity produced by the sinking of head needed 2 FEMORAL HEAD ALLOGRAFT.

Total duration of surgery was 7 hours.

Patient did well. Initially mobilised without putting weight and by 6 weeks full weight bearing started.

He was also started on Medication for bone strengthening.

ALL IS WELL and he too became well,

Like Nature , life is always Beautiful ...

This photo was taken on Wednesday the 20th June . A significant day in the life of the McLaughlin and Bassi family's. It was the day mum fell at home and fractured her hip and was taken to hospital by Ambulance. It was also the day before she was due to go away to a 'posh' 5* hotel with me, Sharon and Eileen and later that month a holiday to 'home' in Ireland. Those trips and fun times were never to be as mum sadly died 12 days later. We all miss her so much and despite her having a 'luckier than most' life with a loving supportive family around her - nothing seems to be able to replace her :-( and the sadness still exists (and i know for me - doesn't seem to go . . )
