On this fine weather day we did an evening hike on North Cape Hiking Trail, which lies on the windswept northwest tip of Prince Edward Island (PEI), soaking in the scenery before the arrival of a heavy rain and wind storm, set in for the following day.

The trail follows the cliff, offering an endless seascape of the Gulf of St. Lawrence; at certain spots, the beach can be accessible at low tide.

Enormous windmills dotted the landscape; I always love the sight of these large and impressive giants!

I am well aware of the danger they pose to birds and bat's, thankfully, so are the wind farms developers. According to a study from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), painting one out of four white wind turbine blades black reduces the number of birds killed by the blades by 72%. In the area of where bats are known to exist, raising the speed at which the turbines begin to spin and exploring the development of ultrasonic deterrents to warn bats away are being undertaken. Let's hope something will be done SOON to safe these amazing creatures! 🙏

Oh yeah, it's very windy up there, so best not to walk too close to the cliff, not to mention the soil could get loosened. (Only a certain sections have fenced.)

Thank you for your visit , please stay safe and healthy! 🌷🌻

One of the craziest and yet surreal experiences of my life was taking this tour onto a massive glacier on the Icefields Parkway in Canada. The colors, textures, and surroundings were off the charts. You can't imagine how slippery it is to even take one step.

This is located near the quite moderate sized town of Ithaca NY a park that mostly caters to local regional hikers from the lack of any out of state license plates I saw in the parking area. The hike to these falls was any easy hike for anyone in decent physical condition and was worth the five hours of putting the pedal to the metal for me to get there. The falls drop 115 feet and there is a viewing area at the base of the falls you can get to. This park was named after Robert H Treman a wealthy businessman and conservationist who bought the land and just a few years later donated the land to state as a park in 1920.

I started in the morning, but it was long and hot throughout the day.

I don't usually make such big mistakes, but this time I ran out of water. That was why I had to turn around and walk back....

But, this path along the coast was lush, wild and beautiful

- so I want to go back some day. Then I want to walk much further and bring enough water with me 😊

Hiking at Kerlingarfjöll is a rewarding experience. We got lost for the first time hiking, away from the planned trial, reached to glacier direction, the strong wind and cold weather almost killed us although I wore snow pants and thin down jacket. Here are some tips for hikers at Kerlingarfjöll:

-Research and Plan: research the trails, weather conditions, and any potential hazards in the area.

-Check Weather Conditions: Icelandic weather can be unpredictable. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather and pack appropriate clothing and gear.

-Carry Essential Gear: a sturdy backpack, hiking boots, extra clothing layers, GPS device, food and water.

-Stay on Marked Trails: Stick to marked trails and avoid venturing off into unmarked areas, as it can be easy to get lost in the wilderness.

-Be Mindful of Wildlife: While wildlife encounters are rare in Kerlingarfjöll. Respect the natural habitat and keep a safe distance from any animals you may encounter.

Hiking in Kerlingarfjöll offers a combination of geothermal wonders, colorful landscapes, remote wilderness, and stunning views, making it a special and memorable experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

Well I really didn't think I'd be taking these out of the closet today as I haven't worn them in a few years now. A detail shot of my Winter hiking boots with laces and yes, they are yellow!

I already posted www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/31240829477/in/datepo... what was the end view of my hike to Munken. This is in the beginning of the hike, where I came from sea level (somewhere on the left of the picture) and this is after ca 300 meters climbing. The magnificent view here was only the beginning of ridiculously many wonderful shots from which it is hard to choose. More to follow!

Further more you can see that it is still early in spring, where the green grass is just starting to awake.

Whilst hiking around lake Braies in Italy in Autumn I got this wonderful view through the trees of the lake and the reflection of bright autumn colours in the water, like a magnificent painting.

Hiking in the woods in Austrian, I came across this lonely mill. The noisy stream plunging down flowing over moss covered rocks through the forest down the rolling hills of the Austrian countryside.

We hiked at Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, Arizona last week. The park is in the Superstition Mountains which have long been rumored to have rich veins of gold. Some beautiful views and even a few wildflowers.
