Long exposure of the 400 from the Sunnidale Bridge. The traffic was much lighter than I had hoped, so the trails were actually quite weak. Processed as an HDR to improve the trails.

Snow squall in my area today. We got about 30cm with 30cm more coming tomorrow.
Took this photo going home at 2pm along 400N at Barrie. Visibility about 100 ft in this photo, close to zero at other times.
I would like to say that this shot required hours of paddling and a portage or two, but it was taken from the parking lot of the gas station at exit #214 while sipping a Tim's

Greensburg suffered two tornadoes in 2008.
When I went through it in Jan 2009, I saw this and thought it was worth photographing. There was still a great deal of destruction evident.
Greensburg is on U-54/400 at the intersection of 183, about 105 miles west of Wichita and 44 SE of Dodge City.
The sign was near the E city limit, and I think I put it on the map in the correct place.

Driving eastbound US-166 & US-400, entering Missouri.
We would be in Missouri for just under a mile and for about two or three minutes - as we eventually get onto westbound I-44 and into Oklahoma.

Driving southbound I-35/Kansas Turnpike, approaching the new offramp to westbound US-54/400 and Kellogg Avenue (Exit 53A). This is a new exit that was part of the East Kellogg Avenue construction project in this part of Wichita and Sedgwick County.
The interesting and unique item for this ramp is that there is only an electronic tag lane (K-TAG) for this ramp - there is no other toll booth for any drivers that don't have K-TAG's (they have the option to pay online later).

Driving eastbound on the current US-54/US-400/Kellogg Blvd (which will eventually be the frontage road), looking at the future freeway portion of US-54/US-400/Kellogg Blvd near Greenwich Road - with overhead big green signs already installed less than a mile from the future new interchange with I-35/Kansas Turnpike.
The new roads are scheduled to open around 2021.

The Welcome to Barrie sign on Highway 400 north of the city. This photo was quite tricky to take, involving a special lens and a high vantage point. More about it on my photoblog:
Aus Toronto heraus geht es zunächst auf dem Highway 400. Der ist in beide Richtungen brechend voll und hin und wieder stehen wir ganz folgerichtig im Stau.

This was taken at 6:49 pm near the intersection of Finch Ave. and Hwy 400 looking North. This is after an EF2 Tornado ravaged the area. This is the second storm which also produced a Tornado not far from here.

In the fall of 2012, I was doing my first field placement at rich-person rehab, and driving down to Toronto most weekends to see my girlfriend...who I married less than five years later!
Rewinding the DVD a little bit (yes, because it was the 2000s), I first started driving (or more accurately, being a passenger) up the 400 in 2007, when my parents bought a cottage. We would sometimes stop at this restaurant complex on the way up the 400. I believe it had a Wendy's inside, with some other hard cafeteria-style tables and chairs throughout. It's amazing that I still vaguely remember the interior.
But by November of 2012, it was closed. By 2013-ish, it was turned into the King City ONroute.

Driving northbound US-69/westbound US-400, at the intersection where it meets up with US-160 and K-171, just a couple of miles south of Pittsburg.
With all the shield signs appearing, notice the K-171 shield sign - the yellow sunflower is significantly faded into almost white.

This is what I felt like going almost 10 hours straight up to Georgian Bay Ontario from Rhode Island.... yaaaawn!
Driving at night works best for me, no waiting at the border and less erratic drivers (although there was 1 trucker nodding off going left and right on the rumble strips - gave him the horn to snap him out of it).
