Positief denken
Bij de gevaarlijkste drogredenen van onze tijd behoort de slogan: "Je moet daar positief tegenover staan".
Wie negatieve kritiek uitbrengt voelt zich bij die zin in het defensief gedrongen; erger, hem wordt de mond gesnoerd.
Er gebeurt in feite meer. Mensen willen degene die probeert klaar te zien, verhinderen de waarheid te zoeken of ze bekend te maken, ze willen hem de weg versperren. Het is hem niet toegestaan zich af te vragen of niet precies het omgekeerde van wat de mensen hem aansmeren de waarheid is. Hij moet positief staan tegenover de pietluttigheden der positieve profiteurs voor wie het gevaar alleen komt van wie de vraag naar de waarde durft stellen.
Vernuftig was de man die de slogan der positieven lanceerde. Geslepen zijn ze, degenen die die slogan constant in de mond nemen.
Het is met dat positieve gesteld als met het alternatief. De een of ander komt met een voorstel aandraven waar de nonsens afdruipt. Als je het afwijst, verheft hij zijn stem met de vraag: "En wat is je alternatief?" Hij lijkt aan de goede kant te staan. Maar hij vergeet - en wil vooral de anderen doen vergeten - ten eerste dat niemand hem om een voorstel vroeg, en ten tweede dat het afwijzen van krankzinnigheden niemand tot andere krankzinnigheden verplicht, zelfs niet tot het uitdenken ervan. Ze zijn niet te tellen, de brave mensen die laten begaan en die dus worden gefopt.
Zo vergaat het de slachtoffers der positieven. Wie al jaren stelselmatige afbraak meemaakt en er volgens de afbrekers positief moet tegenover staan en alleen zogezegd opbouwende kritiek mag uitbrengen, wordt allicht fatalist en zwijgt uit beleefdheid of om bestwil.
Het kost nochtans weinig denkmoeite om wat orde op die zaken te stellen. Wie positief staat tegenover het onbenullige, is onbenullig. Wie positief staat tegenover het negatieve, is negatief. Het is schande, positief te staan tegenover het imbeciele.

The Grade II Listed Kingfisher Cottage built in 1835 by W A Nicholson. Located in the village of Blankney, which was built around the large estate of the now former Blankney Hall. In Blankney, Lincolnshire.
Blankney has existed since the time of William the Conqueror, when it belonged to the Deincourt family.
In the 15th century the estate passed through marriage to the Lovels of Titchmarsh. After the Battle of Stoke Field in 1487, all the estates of the Lovels were confiscated by Henry VII for the crown and Blankney Estate was then bought by the Thorold family. It was the Thorolds who did much to embellish the house with carved panelling of the period.
During the reign of Charles I, again through marriage it passed into the hands of Sir William Widdrington who was created Baron Widdrington of Blankney in 1643. Lord Widdrington's great grandson, William Widdrington, 4th Baron Widdrington had the indiscretion to take part in the Jacobite rising of 1715. He was captured at Preston, convicted of high treason and his lands were confiscated in the following year.
In 1719 Thomas Chaplin, a prominent Lincolnshire landowner, purchased the land from the Crown Commissioners for Confiscated Land, and it was to remain in the family for over two centuries. The estate owes its appearance largely to the influence of the Chaplins and their care of the land. The last Chaplin, Henry, led an extravagant lifestyle and had political ambitions; this lifestyle coupled to the falling revenues from farms led him ever into debt until finally in 1892, the estate passed to the principal mortgagee Charles Denison, 1st Earl of Londesborough.
At the start of the Second World War the Hall was requisitioned for use as billets for servicemen from nearby RAF stations. During 1945 it was badly damaged by fire and was then left as an empty shell before being demolished in the 1980s. All that remains today are the dilapidated remnants of the former stable block.
In this area, the greek army stopped the italian invasion in 1940, forcing the Axis-forces to retreat deep to Albanian territory.

The monument we see here, is called "Greek fighter of the war of 1940".
Needeless to mention that in a time in which the german army practical conquered the whole Europe and still had Peace Treaty with USSR, Greece did not surrender, but counterattacked with great efficiency.
The strike back of the Greeks caused global admiration. All Italian soldiers who participated in the invasion of Greece, wore a special Insignia of Honor "for fighting against an army of high quality and fighting value with universal regognition". Needless to say that the Italian soldiers fought also brave and that Mussolini itself were present in the battlefield at a later time.
Unfortunately, few months later, when the Germans arrived in the greek borders of Macedonia and Thrace, the majority of the Greek army was still fighting the italian army within Albania, hundreds of Kilometers away.
Even so, the resistance of the Greek army in the famous "Battle of the Metaxas Line" against the german army was very strong. Hitler's right hand, Joseph Goebbels and other officers, describes it with stunning details in their diaries.
At the end of the battle, the German Commander acted very professional: He honored the Greeks by asking the Greek head officer to inspect the German troops and he allowed the Greek soldiers to keep their weapons. The German flag raised only after the Greek troops completely left the battlefield.
The rest is more or less known:
The Greek Capitulation was the result of High Treason acts commited by General Tsolakoglou (and others) and by the early (!) retreat of the english army located in Greece.
The Greek army fought for almost 2 months, simultaneously, against 4 armies: German, Italian, Bulgarian and.. Albanian army, which were all allies of Germany.
Greece finally fall into Hitler's hands in June of 1941, six whole months after the first Italian Invasion in 28 Oktober 1940.
(Hitler planned to conquer Greece within a few days).
The Greek resistance delayed the Axis (see also the Battle of Creta). This delay was long enough to allow the Soviets to prepare their counterattack, under the significant help of the russian winter...
It is really doubtful if (or when) Greece would finally loose this war, without the HighTreason act of General and (later) Prime Minister Tsolakoglou, who was senteced to death (for High Treason) after the end of the war.

The Grade II Listed remains of the stables of Blankney Hall, the stables are the only remaining part of the hall. In Blankney, Lincolnshire.
Blankney has existed since the time of William the Conqueror, when it belonged to the Deincourt family.
In the 15th century the estate passed through marriage to the Lovels of Titchmarsh. After the Battle of Stoke Field in 1487, all the estates of the Lovels were confiscated by Henry VII for the crown and Blankney Estate was then bought by the Thorold family. It was the Thorolds who did much to embellish the house with carved panelling of the period.
During the reign of Charles I, again through marriage it passed into the hands of Sir William Widdrington who was created Baron Widdrington of Blankney in 1643. Lord Widdrington's great grandson, William Widdrington, 4th Baron Widdrington had the indiscretion to take part in the Jacobite rising of 1715. He was captured at Preston, convicted of high treason and his lands were confiscated in the following year.
In 1719 Thomas Chaplin, a prominent Lincolnshire landowner, purchased the land from the Crown Commissioners for Confiscated Land, and it was to remain in the family for over two centuries. The estate owes its appearance largely to the influence of the Chaplins and their care of the land. The last Chaplin, Henry, led an extravagant lifestyle and had political ambitions; this lifestyle coupled to the falling revenues from farms led him ever into debt until finally in 1892, the estate passed to the principal mortgagee Charles Denison, 1st Earl of Londesborough.
At the start of the Second World War the Hall was requisitioned for use as billets for servicemen from nearby RAF stations. During 1945 it was badly damaged by fire and was then left as an empty shell before being demolished in the 1980s. All that remains today are the dilapidated remnants of the former stable block.
