There is one test I like doing in all of my projects and I call it the "Pin Test." Some think it is a great accomplishment that the old Mormon Tabernacle has special acoustics because you can hear a pin drop across the room. When a room has the proper design, wall and ceiling ratio's, the proper HVAC system and the right acoustical treatment, it will pass the pin test. What made this extra exciting is that I was able to drop a pin anywhere on the stage and people at back and in the mezzanine could hear the pin bounce on the floor. We used a straight pin, a small sewing needle and sewing beed that was the size that fits on the head of a straight pin.

This church did hire me to give them a room to be able to hear children being amplified with a microphone from 8 ft away. They room can amplify a child from 15 feet away.

They asked for a room that can chorus from the stage and it choruses from the stage. They asked for a room that will be good for congregational singing and it is a great space for congregational singing.

The rope on the foredeck is a downhaul which controls the leach tension like a vang. We don't use blocks, but a trucker's hitch to get the purchase needed.

Saves about $60 compared to buying some pulleys. BTW we were using this on BETH well before they legalised it on Lasers.

Beginning with the 1957 model year, Chevrolet added fuel injection as an option for improved engine performance in the Corvette. Early reports of reliability problems, coupled with its $500 price tag, resulted in a limited number of "Fuelie's" being built. Different sources have the number of models sold with this option ranging from 240 to 1,040 out of a total 1957 production run of 6,339 Corvettes.

Between the windows are old fashion poly-cylindrical diffusers. When made from drywall it is really low cost to do. The diffuser contain the ducts for the heating and cooling system. The diffusers replaced the cost of building bulkheads on the ceiling for the HVAC system. This also provided a place for additional indirect lighting. According to the church, these physical features did not cost the church extra.

The Renault 5 Turbo or R5 Turbo is a high-performance hatchback automobile launched by the French manufacturer Renault at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1980. The car was primarily designed for rallying, but was also sold in a street version. A total of 3576 R5 Turbos were manufactured during a four-year production run.

In response to Lancia's rallying success with the mid-engined Stratos, Renault's Jean Terramorsi, vice-president of production, asked Bertone’s Marc Deschamps to design a new sports version of the Renault 5 Alpine supermini. The distinctive new rear bodywork was styled by Marcello Gandini at Bertone.

The R5 Turbo featured a mid-mounted 1397 cc Cléon turbocharged engine placed behind the driver in mid-body in a modified Renault 5 chassis.

Though it used a modified body from a standard Renault 5, and was badged a Renault 5, the mechanicals were radically different, the most obvious difference being rear-wheel drive instead of the normal version's front-wheel drive. At the time of its launch it was the most powerful production French car. The first 400 production 5 Turbos were made to comply with Group 4 homologation to allow the car to compete in international rallies, and were manufactured at the Alpine factory in Dieppe.

design inspired by Ford's classic GT40 race cars of the 1960s

The Ford GT40 was a high performance sports car and winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans four times in a row (1966 to 1969)

The car was named the GT (for Grand Touring) with the 40 representing its overall height of 40 inches (1.02 m, measured at the windshield) as required by the rules.

You are invited to stay and browse through my photostream. Here's a quick index to my Flickr site:

Automobile Photographs: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (except Springfield): Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I've photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I've put together:

Barbers & Barber Shops: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!: Included topics range from man's first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.
