So much new construction in Manhattan. For years and years this lot had a gas station and carwash . . . now it's a condominium! On lower 6th Avenue

but what remained were glorious! Devil's Hopyard in East Haddam, CT. About 850 acres of walking trails with a covered bridge and beautiful waterfalls--when there is water. Connecticut is in the middle of a severe drought, but there was this much water still left!

Reminded me of when I used to ski. The mountain often didn't look so high or so steep or so far!

We chose to walk the dirt path just off to the right which takes you through some woods, crosses a little brook and eventually leads you to the Temple of Love and the Rock Garden!

Marchers on the Common only a couple of blocks away . . . and this man sits reading the paper on his stoop.

Engine 1095 located in Confederation Park, Kingston Ontario was built in 1913 and fully restored in 2013.

 

Sir John Alexander Macdonald was the first prime minister of Canada. Amongst his many accomplishments was his role in the completion of the transcontinental 'Canadian Pacific Railway' or CPR. connecting Eastern Canada to British Columbia, completed in 1885...see first comment below...
