StumpCraft is a deluxe jigsaw puzzle workshop based out of Calgary, Alberta run by Jasen Robillard. He designs and locally craft laser-cuts, heirloom quality puzzles showcasing the best of Canadian fine art.

On 5 June, I was able to drive to my daughter's place and give her a few jigsaw puzzles. Three of them had arrived a few weeks ago, but I couldn't drive because of needing a car repair. In a way it was good, as I later discovered a further puzzle that I ordered online.

As you can see, this puzzle is no ordinary jigsaw - rather, an heirloom treasure. It is a work of art, made of wood, and containing some interesting shapes like dinosaurs. The puzzle itself is not very big, so each puzzle piece is small. It comes in a very sturdy cardboard box. I was able to lift the top and peek inside, as I had read reviews that mentioned the wonderful smell of wood. I gasped when I saw all those exquisitely cut shapes.

The fact that these puzzles are made here in Calgary is an absolute bonus. Especially in these difficult times, small businesses need as much support as possible. After gazing in awe at the contents of the box, I decided to order a second one, to give to my son and his family : )
