Calakmul (also Kalakmul) was a powerful Mayan city during the classical period. Along with El Mirador and Tikal, Calakmul is one of the largest Mayan cities ever discovered. Calakmul is located around 300 km southeast of the city of Campeche (Mexico) in the state of the same name.
Calakmul spread over an area of approximately 30 square kilometers and had over 100 colossal buildings; a total of more than 5000 buildings are known. The so-called "structures" I and II dominate here. The latter has a height of approx. 45 meters. However, most of Calakmul has not been excavated or explored in depth. Only speculations can be made about the population. A population of around 50,000 people is assumed for the city center.
The Pineta Valley is part of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido Natural Park in the Sobrarbe region. A very overwhelming valley due to the high and steep mountains that were formed as a result of the dragging of waste as a product of the thaw, this itself makes the valley have the shape of a U. Its landscape captivates by the lushness of its forests and meadows, along with they stand out the spectacular waterfalls that come down from the top of the mountains.
Thanks to its elevations it turns out to be the ideal place to practice high mountain sports. On its southern crest there is a section of peaks that exceed 2,500 meters in height, towards the southern end there is a trio of peaks known as the three Marías. Continuing towards the north ridge the terrain becomes less steep.
The valley of Pineta is closed in a fairly steep wall, in its upper part where the waterfalls come from is the circus and the balcony of Pineta. Those who have managed to climb to the Balcón de Pineta cannot leave the site without seeing the Marboré lake. A site that offers the best panoramic views of the Monte Perdido Glacier, located between Monte Perdido and Cilindro.
The Pineta circus is one of the most beautiful sights in the valley. It should be noted that the Pineta valley is one of the most accessible points of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido Natural Park thanks to the road that allows access to the bottom of the valley.

The large and slim-looking cattle reach a shoulder height of 1.38 - 1.48 m and weigh 600 - 950 kg. The appearance of the steppe cattle is adapted to their natural habitat, the sunny steppe: They have blue-black skin to protect against UV radiation and light-colored fur that reflects the sun's rays better. The original longhorn cattle dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It was created by crossing with tamed small shorthorn cattle and the wild primal cattle living in Hungary.
The Krimml Waterfalls (German: Krimmler Wasserfälle), with a total height of 380 metres (1,247 feet), are the highest waterfall in Austria.[1] The falls are on the Krimmler Ache river and are located near the village of Krimml in the High Tauern National Park in Salzburg state.
Krimmler Waterfalls is a tiered waterfall. The waterfall begins at the top of the Krimmler Ache valley, and plunges downward in three stages. The upper stage has a drop of 140 metres, the middle of 100 metres, and the lowest a drop of 140 metres. The highest point of the waterfall is 1,470 metres above sea level.
The Krimmler Ache is a glacial stream whose flow varies greatly with season. Its volumetric flow in June and July is 20,000 m³/h (about 5.28 million gallons per hour), while in February it is only 500 m³/h (about 0.13 million gallons per hour). The greatest measured flow was on 25 August 1987, when it was 600,000 m³/h, or almost 160 million gallons per hour.
After the falls, the river joins the Salzach, which flows to the Inn, then into the River Danube and finally to the Black Sea.
To ensure that tourists could see more of the waterfall without difficulty, Ignaz von Kürsinger, from Mittersill, created a path to the upper part of the waterfall. In 1879, the Austrian Alpine Club improved the road to provide a more panoramic view. About 400,000 people visit the falls annually. The misty spray of the waterfall creates ideal growth condition for hundreds of mosses, lichens and ferns. The surroundings are the habitat for 62 bird species.[3]
There is a negative impact on the local residents due to the high traffic level in a small village, and because of erosion to the road.
The Melike Hatun Mosque, which was built with Ottoman architecture in Ankara's Erbakan Square and where 7 thousand people can pray at the same time, covers an area of 3,600 square meters. Under the mosque, there is a thousand-seat congress hall, foyer area and parking lot.
The dome diameter of the mosque is 27 meters and its height is 43 meters. On the other hand, Marmara stone was used in the cladding of 4 minarets, each of which is 72 meters. There are 16 marble inscriptions in the 8 meters 20 centimeters high copper realm on the main dome.
In the mosque, where wooden and nailless kündekari art is used, there are gold leaf, mother-of-pearl, vineyard and ivory engraved inscriptions on the entrance doors.

Cistus albidus, estepa o jara blanca.
Cistus albidus, steppe or white jara. It kills between 50 and 100 cm in height, not very branches, with whitish leaves, without petiole, opposite and with three very marked nerves. Contrary to its name, this is one of the few species of flowers that have no white flowers, but pink, 5 cm in diameter and solitary or in groups of three or four, at the termination of the twigs. It occurs in any type of soil in its range, although it prefers the rich in lime.
Have a good weekend.
This lovely origami model is called "Rain Star" or in Spanish "Estrella de la Lluvia", because when it was created by Aldo Marcell it was raining ;-)
I wanted to see what the difference is when I changed the color, so that's why you see 2 variations, I like them both....which one has your preference?
I put them on a mirror so you can see at the same time the other site.

The sarus crane (Antigone antigone) is a large nonmigratory crane found in parts of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The tallest of the flying birds, standing at a height of up to 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in), they are a conspicuous species of open wetlands in South Asia, seasonally flooded Dipterocarpus forests in Southeast Asia, and Eucalyptus-dominated woodlands and grasslands in Australia. The sarus crane is easily distinguished from other cranes in the region by its overall grey colour and the contrasting red head and upper neck. They forage on marshes and shallow wetlands for roots, tubers, insects, crustaceans, and small vertebrate prey. Like other cranes, they form long-lasting pair bonds and maintain territories within which they perform territorial and courtship displays that include loud trumpeting, leaps, and dance-like movements. In India, they are considered symbols of marital fidelity, believed to mate for life and pine the loss of their mates, even to the point of starving to death. The main breeding season is during the rainy season, when the pair builds an enormous nest "island,” a circular platform of reeds and grasses nearly two meters in diameter and high enough to stay above the shallow water surrounding it. Increased agricultural intensity is often thought to have led to declines in sarus crane numbers, but they also benefit from wetland crops and the construction of canals and reservoirs. The stronghold of the species is in India, where it is traditionally revered and lives in agricultural lands in close proximity to humans. Elsewhere, the species has been extirpated in many parts of its former range. 32614

With an average body height of four feet and wing length of nine feet, the American White Pelican gives off a dino vibe.
While gangly on land, their soaring abilities are amazing and they know how to use the air currents both in their migrations as well as in daily flight.
This one passed directly over me as I fired off several shots.

A shot from Coigach taken while fishing for Pollock. These beautiful clouds started forming and lit up the sky over Stac Pollaidh and Cul Mor. I also caught lots of fish, so a brilliant evening all around. The Ideal Height is a track by Biffy Clyro, and is fine.
The emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the second-largest living bird by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. It is endemic to Australia where it is the largest native bird and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. The emu's range covers most of mainland Australia, but the Tasmanian, Kangaroo Island and King Island subspecies became extinct after the European settlement of Australia in 1788. The bird is sufficiently common for it to be rated as a least-concern species. Emus are soft-feathered, brown, flightless birds with long necks and legs, and can reach up to 1.9 metres in height. Emus can travel great distances, and when necessary can sprint at 50 km/h; they forage for a variety of plants and insects, but have been known to go for weeks without eating. They drink infrequently, but take in copious amounts of water when the opportunity arises. The emu is an important cultural icon of Australia, appearing on the coat of arms and various coins. The bird features prominently in Indigenous Australian mythology. 12753

- Pleioblastus viridistriatus
This is a beautiful, compact, evergreen, semi-dwarf bamboo whose large, green-striped, bright golden-yellow leaves give it a tropical appearance. Height: 2 to 5 feet.
Perfect for the front of a sunny border and contrasting well with green-leaved grasses and bamboos, it has beautiful, purple-green canes that help to add architectural value to the garden.
At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.

Astrantia major, the great masterwort, is a species of flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to central and eastern Europe. Growing to 90 cm (35 in) tall by 45 cm (18 in) broad, it is an herbaceous perennial, much used in gardens.
Astrantia major reaches on average 60 centimetres (24 in) of height. The stem is erect and glabrous, with little branches and few leaves. The basal leaves have a long petiole 10–20 centimetres (3.9–7.9 in), 3 to 7 lobes and toothed segments. Size: 8–15 centimetres (3.1–5.9 in). The cauline leaves are generally two, sessile, amplexicaul and lanceolate-shaped with a trilobed apex. The inflorescence is umbrella-shaped, with 2–3 centimetres (0.79–1.18 in) of diameter. The floral bracts are numerous (10 - 20), 10–18 millimetres (0.39–0.71 in) long, reddish (sometimes white) with acuminate apex. The small flowers are greenish-white with reddish shades. The central ones are hermaphrodite, while the external ones are male. The petals are five, white (or slightly reddened), while the stamens are five and much longer. Size of the flowers: about 1 mm. The flowering period extends from June through September.

At almost 34 metres in height, Ireland's tallest round tower totally dominates the monastic complex at Kilmacduagh. This rather unique monument has a number of very distinctive features. There are a total of 11 angle-headed windows present in the tower, some of which have been restored. Probably the most obvious feature of the tower is the very noticeable lean, over 1/2 metre, towards the south-west. The conical cap, which collapsed in 1859 and restored in 1878, overhangs the drum slightly.
The walls of the tower are believed to be almost 2 metres thick at the base. Because of the thickness of the walls and the height of the tower we were not surprised to learn that the monument has a diameter of over 5.5 metres. Amazingly the foundations are only 60 centimetres deep. Another rather striking feature is the height of the doorway. It stands at over 17 metres above ground level. This raises the unanswered question about access to the tower -obviously they did not use a 17 metre high wooden ladder and it would have been quite a feat to scale the tower using a rope ladder. Sadly the weather changed for the worst during our visit, but hopefully we will drop by Kilmacduagh again in the near future.

Perhaps these wagons were sidelined after trucks came on the scene. During the height of it's gold and silver production in 1880, the population of Bodie was estimated at 10,000. In the early days, everything to support the growth of the town was brought in via wagons like this.
