A bit of a graphic poster style slide - Happy Slider Sunday! HSS
The Homestead on the ground floor, a favorite local spot where I can sometimes be found inside, enjoying a glass of Franziskaner Hefeweizen, and a nice bowl of salty peanuts.
This is the only kind of UFO I want to see!
Brewed by Harpoon Brewery, a nice summer beer. It is an unfiltered wheat beer in the Hefeweizen style. UFO stands for UnFiltered Offering.

The best way to collect bottles for storing your homebrew is to buy them full in the first place! Stash of empty sterile bottles awaiting the next hefeweizen brew that I do.

Unfortunately, by the time Goldie and Hunny finished the Oktoberfest prep the hefeweizen was all gone.
We went to Crust this weekend; the pizza was great, but my photos of it weren't. I had a Pinkus Organic Hefeweizen with my meal. It wasn't too shabby - very light and crisp. I could drink 5 or 6 of these without even realizing it.
The Michipicoten wastes no time taking on a load of pellets shortly after arriving at the LS&I ore dock in in the wee hours of Thursday morning. I was headed to Sault Ste. Marie for a couple of days, and when I saw the she was showing a destination of Marquette, I left home about 7 Wednesday night (after having been up all day) and made a run for Marquette with only a stop for a growler of a fresh batch of Hefeweizen from the brewery and a gas stop. I pulled in to the dock area about 4:10am Michigan time just as the Michipicoten was pulling in. .
Some really nice bistros were part of my Québec vacation, just as important as the historical sites, museums, festivities and other tourist attractions.
When I dropped in at Sapristi! for a croque-monsieur, I did not take any pictures, but I could not resist the urge to take a picture a couple of days later, when they served me this exquisite tartare de bœuf. The local Hefe-Weizen was equally delicious.
I still get hungry every time I see this picture...

Moon Under Water did not mess around when they named their Hefeweizen. They went straight to the point and called it “This Is Hefeweizen”. As a cloudy, amber coloured ale this Moon creation pours with 2 1/2 fingers of beautiful head that settles relatively slowly. The aroma is lightly sweet with notes of passion fruit, clove and a bunch of bananas. The taste starts off with a mid carbonated malt that builds into a wheat-fruit filled mid-section. A creamy texture comes in at the back end leaving the palate with a clove and banana finish that is both light and refreshing while remaining true to what a Hefeweizen truly is
Cerveza de color ámbar anaranjado turbio con abundante y duradera espuma blanca. Cuerpo cremoso y carbonatación media. Paladar afrutado y toque acido del trigo, maltosa, y con un amargor discreto.
Hope you all had a great week! :)
If not, make next week extra awesome.
TGIF.

Side note: Did you know you can mix-and-match beer at Trader Joe's? I haven't had Hefeweizen since summer, or any beer for that matter, (and I couldn't decide on a brand since I didn't know any of them) so this made my day :D
And that's my Moroccan blanket making yet another appearance as the backdrop. I love that thing.

The other weekend I went on a bit of a whirlwind tour with my buddy Eric -- lots of driving and hiking with very little sleeping. Despite our jam-packed itinerary, I had initially thought of the Mesquite Dunes as my primary destination. I planned to walk around for several hours before sunset to find a solid comp, and I even rented a lens for the weekend specifically to shoot the dunes.
I knew it was going to be hot down there, but we started out that morning hiking for hours in the freezing cold at 12,000 feet, so some hopeful yet benighted part of me was actually looking forward to the warmer air on the valley floor. It wasn't long after descending into Stovepipe Wells that we found ourselves sitting under the gas station awning, seeking relief in a cold hefeweizen and thinking, "Why the heck are we down here right now?" I'm not built for heat, and I wasn't about to trudge through the sand in 100 degrees for two hours until the sun went down.
We decided to at least cruise over to the parking lot just to check out the dunes before reevaluating our plan to camp in the area. They weren't nearly as tracked-out as they get in the winter, but the heat still didn't deter a few crazy people from venturing out into the vast expanse of sand. Thankfully I had envisioned people in my photo, so I walked about 50 yards from the car, fired a few quick shots and decided to call it at that.
This shot could have probably benefited from waiting another half hour for the light to change while I found a better comp. We figured it best to use the remaining daylight to hoof it back up to the Alabama Hills, where sunrise opportunities and reasonable temperatures awaited. Being that I had barely managed to nab four hours of sleep in the two days prior, waiting and driving at night would have been just about as silly as hiking through the scorching desert.
Nonetheless, I'm still happy to get a half-way decent shot out of the stop that was even remotely close to what I originally had in mind!
We've got our schwarzbier lagering as of today. Also carbing some hefeweizen and toasted oat porter for an upcoming pig roast. The porter sat in secondary for about 4 months with oak cubes that had previously soaked in Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) bourbon.
Top-notch Weissbier, a collaboration between the Bitburger Brewery group and the Benedictine monks of Ettal monastery. The classic Hefeweizen beer has a 5.4% ABV. My local FL liquor store sells it in 4-packs, of which this was the last.
De Budapest. Hefeweizen, o com etiqueten ells Bavarian weizenbier with vanilla. Aigua, malta d’ordi, de blat i de civada, flocs de civada, llúpol (Magnum, Mittelfrüh), llevat i vainilla de Madagascar. 4,6%. M'ha encantat. Poc cos, carbonatació fina, olor a plàtan i clau, gust a cereal poc torrat i la vainilla que l'acaba d'arrodonir. Monday, we stopped at Full Sail Brewing in Hood River for an early dinner. The thermometer in the Ranger said it was 103°F when we parked. I had a Blood Orange Hefeweizen upon arrival. It was so wonderful, I had another.
I missed pint night yesterday. Racers had a Union Brewery tap take over night. One the beers they were offering was Union Brewery Mountain Girl Heffeweizen. I really wanted to try it but I don't out at night during the week often So I stopped in the next afternoon and it was still on the beer board. I am a big hefeweizen fan. But have not had one for it while. It was worth the stop over. Great beer choice
