💬 Fremantle and Rottnest Island, off Fremantle (Perth), Western Australia, have glorious sunsets, some of the best in Australia as they are in the West!

That said a fast ocean ferry takes one over, where you can hire a bicycle to peddle around the island, or hop on and off a bus that goes around to the main scenic spots: mainly snorkelling and white sand beach places as well as lookouts (at West End the lookout looks over a seal colony).

No vehicles are allowed (except for the maintenance crews), as Rottnest is a protected nature reserve, also home to the unique and friendly quokka (like a small wallaby).

Then there is Strickland Bay known for its surf breaks. It's considered a fun wave, especially when it gets big ... For the experienced there is Chicken Reef: an exposed, left hand reef break. It produces the best waves with an offshore north northeast wind and swells from the south southwest. I have surfed at both, the latter is really only for the experienced ... awesome!!

Also plenty of reefs to explore while swimming and snorkelling.

All in all pretty much a dream nature place to visit with some accommodation there to, as well as a museum recording the interesting but sad history of the island in the colonial days as a penal colony for Aboriginal people.

Some studies have found that hibiscus tea may lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. However, to prevent an interaction, it should not be taken in combination with blood pressure medications.

Animal studies have found that hibiscus extract has antioxidant properties. Additional studies are needed to determine how this may translate to humans.

Some studies have shown that hibiscus tea may reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in those with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. However, other studies have produced conflicting results. More research is needed in the general population

It's great to be back making some new work again this week.

Good Morning "Aunt" Pat!

It is a good morning, indeed. A good morning for laughter, for celebration, for sharing and for joy. It is a good morning to be grateful for the small things in life...like the generosity and hospitality of friends.

"Aunt" Pat is a transplanted Texan, blooming where she is planted, like a Texas Bluebell who has natural skills for Southern Hospitality.

Why not pull up a chair and share one of your "Coffee Cup Moments" with me. I have put out some Baked Apple 'n Cinnamon bars for us (don't worry - they are Weight Watchers!) to share. Invite your friend, Randie, too!

One can never have too many health partners! So invite all of your mutual friends, too, your two- three- or four-hundred of them! LOL (Excuse me while I put out some more Apple 'n Cinnamon bars). ;-)

Thanks for all you do and have done, especially this month. You know exactly what I mean, too.

Thanks for inviting me for coffee so many times! It's nice to have you as my guest for a change.

By the way, the Joker in the photo is especially there for you . . . thanks for making me laugh so often!!!

Many hugs and much love,

Nighty ;->

P.S. Everyone should hear this song from time to time, and it is the perfect one after the story you shared with me! Enjoy...

The new Cedar Hill Middle School currently under construction seems sadly lacking in any architectural details. Sad.

But woman's lookin' pretty good on her ebike! 🚴

One of the worlds super fruits, healthy, low fat and an antioxidant. A cup a day will keep you healthy.

HMM Everyone.

This week's theme - "Staying Healthy". A sandwich made with organic multigrain rye bread, real ham from Winnipeg Olde Country and a cherry tomato. HMM everyone!

In the past few years I have noticed more and more people go out and run, trying to increase their physical activity now that we spend most of our time sitting in front of a computer. And if you live in a big city, finding a place to run, away from traffic and busy streets, might be a challenge. Golden Gate park in San Francisco is the ideal place for that. Dirtroads, pathways, empty streets and most important, trees! I guess that's why it was full of runners. People that are dedicated to a healthier living. People that "go the extra mile"..

An empowering track and one of my favorites when I go running..

HEALTHY LIVING for me involves making much of our family food from local ingredients. And you can't get any more local than the Evans Cherry ( a sour cherry) tree 20 feet from my back door! Today we picked the fruit and within 2 hours turned into jam. Making my own healthy jam means I'm in control of the ingredients .... and I'm supposed to be in control of how much of it I eat :) ... Sometimes HEALTHY LIVING can be difficult!

for the Macro Monday challenge HEALTHY LIVING

The 8/7/17 theme for Macro Mondays is Healthy Living, and I have determined that the lowly olive packs a lot of nutritional value and is a marvelous contributor to one's healthy lifestyle. It is also my belief that an olive's overall nutritional value is substantially enhanced when carefully preserved in alcohol, such as would be found in a martini...

From Nutritioninfood.com:

Olives Nutrition Facts

Olives have plenty of great vitamins and minerals to contribute to one’s diet. As far as minerals go, olives contain calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, natrium, and selenium. There are also plenty of vitamins in olives, such as B1 – 6, vitamin a, vitamin e, and vitamin k. Olives can also contribute small amounts of sugar, carbs, and fiber to one’s diet. One can also get a good portion of daily monosaturated fats by eating just a few olives each day.

Let's see. We are looking at May of 2015 here ( yes, I am still going through hard drives - this is my new "job" now and the boss is a slave driver LOL ) with this small group of just some the fun folks at 33 CF Health Services that I had the pleasure to work along side for many years.

I'll raise you two Doctors, a PA, a Social Worker, an EA, SSM and of course a great CO! All of whom were helping to promote a healthy lifestyle of exercise as a Team.

I was there in my "unofficial self proclaimed 33 CF Health Services Unit photographer". I miss my friends and colleagues that I came to know over my many years as a CAF member and then later as a Federal Public Servant working once again with members of the CAF.

As Mary Hopkin once sang "those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end".

I want to thank you for your visits, comments and faves and, although I may not get to thank you please know that I am appreciative of them.

I should probably spend more time cooking dinner than photographing it. However the patterns just caught my attention tonight.

Has anybody ever watched the Teletubbies? This reminded me of their field - or maybe the sudden heat has gone to my head 😎 😏

Healthy, sweet & delicious!

I know I've shared a lot of pasta shots recently, but the funny thing is this is actually the photograph I set out to create when I got started on this little carb-fueled vignette. Of course, me being me, when I bought the 20 different kinds of pasta I'd use to create all my other shots, I forgot to get the most important variety, the tri-color rotini I needed to make this photo.

Well, I finally got around to getting my errands in order, and that included the aforementioned macaroni/spinach/tomato product (that's where the red and green colors come from, if you were curious), and the pasta arc is finally over...
