"Now get me out of these rags and into some Oscar de La Renta!"
We're gonna go upstairs now....maybe wash the hair, learn about some new designers...drink some tea with valium...lots of valium. And then I'm going to give poor Shoping Spree Barbie's head a proper funeral.
I was bored one morning, looking at political posters and for some reason Borat popped into my head. This is the result.
I have nothing against Obama...he just happens to look great in a...whatever that is.
Found this poor Superstar Barbie at a doll show...I think the doll is a Golden Dream Barbie while the outfit is "horse lovin?"
Just think this beauty has been buried in a box for so long while her Fashionista sister was high on the shelf and...um hey there Superstar, what's with the knife?
Two different Stardolls, flanking Target exclusive AA Barbie. Skin tone matches are pretty perfect. Really hope we get MTM dolls in more skin tones. Love the expressiveness and the price!
I'd gotten a request for more Sofia Vergara swaps, so I decided to make another of her and Ariana Grande. Enjoy!

Rolling Girl is one of my all time favorite songs so when I decided I wanted to get a spare Miku to mod, I decided I also wanted to get an extra spare to mod into a Rolling girl. Hey, if I'm going to make one modded miku I may as well throw in an extra and easier mod in as a warm up. Eh? ...is that just me?
This will be my Before picture. It'll be a very simple custom, just painting the skirt and modding the face a little and a few scuffed knees and plasters here and there and removing her hairband thingies but it's a good place for me to start customizing as opposed to jumping in the deep end like I plan to for the following custom *gulp*
So I shall work on this Miku first and then move onto the much more complex one when I have time and money to do so.

Headswap done by soaking in hot water and removing from the hair as opposed to the neck.

In The Dark Phoenix Saga, Scott Summers and Jean Grey are the last X-Men standing as they fight valiantly to the last breath - at least for Jean.
That is, until she was written to have been in an underwater cocoon the whole time she was Phoenix / Dark Phoenix.
If you haven't read The Dark Phoenix Saga, you need to do so! It's an incredible story.
As for the figures, Jean's okay, but a lot better with a headswap from the Cyclops / Dark Phoenix 2-pack. Speaking of said 2-pack, Cyclops is a great figure! He uses the "Bucky Cap" mold, like a ton of figures do, but his costume was practically made for it, so the body choice works.
He's also articulated well because of that mold.
Figures:
Marvel Legends Cyclops, Cyclops and Dark Phoenix 2-Pack
Marvel Legends Phoenix, Juggernaut Series
Story:
The Dark Phoenix Saga
Happy collecting!
Quick snap of my dearest model muses. Some are Basics, but don’t tell them that... several are custom hybrid head swaps, mostly chosen because of their unique sculpt & hair color combinations.
This was a big edit, but it was for Grandma's Christmas cards so it was an important one. I took more than two dozen shots of this pose. You can see in the before picture just how well that went :) But having that many photos gave me something to work with. Here's what I did:
1. Seven head swaps. I started here because I wanted the dimensions and exposure to be the same on the pics I swapped from as the pic I was swapping to.
2. Crop
3. Clone stamp and healing brush to extend the backdrop on the sides, and to fix a crease in the paper where it hits the edge of my plywood (can't use a paper drop on carpet).
4. Slight lighten with curves
5. MCP magic skin -- LOVE it
6. Slight bump to saturation and contrast
7. Sharpen
8. Healing brush to fix their little owies
9. And then, just because the zebra stripes on the stools were bugging me, I put a black overlay on them.
Done!
I love the elegance of the Model Muse Barbie body. I've now bought some extra ones so that I can re-body some heads.
From left to right:
1. An OOAK Zodiac doll from Robin Studios on US eBay. She's wearing a hand-sewn cotton dress I made last year. It suits the roses in her cheeks.
2. Madam Lavinia from the Harlem Theater collection. She's wearing an OOAK outfit that came on another doll I bought on eBay. Her face is so beautiful!
3. Fashionista doll no.109 wearing a handmade woollen sweater I got from eBay.
4. ..... Can any of you guess who the 4th lady is? She looks a little different from her original style.....
Another close-up head swap. This time I put Victoria Justice's head on Marcia Gay Harden's body. Enjoy
"In 2033 the Patton Corporation's advanced science division unveiled a micro fusion reactor the size of a medium oil drum. This reactor had an output of 50 megawatts- enough to power a town of 40,000 people. It was also more than enough to power advanced walker vehicles and make them viable in both civilian and military applications. The Asimov Corporation, specializing in robotics engineering, would become an innovator in microfusion tech due to the abundant use in their products, namely the "Polythemus" series. Available in both civilian and military markets, the current MK3 Polythemus will now see service in law enforcement with the LAW variant. This variant of the Polythemus comes equipped with dual riot suppressors, a tear gas dispenser, and a choice between a 7.62×51mm MG, a multi Taser, a 9mm Railgun, or a 30mm semi-auto cannon. The armor is thick enough to withstand anti-material firepower, and the advanced CPU is equipped with advanced targeting systems that can precisely follow fast-moving targets from over a mile away, and a neural interface, allowing the operation to move the MK3 like they move their own limbs."
Some spiel for one of my favorite builds. Will probably have to make other variants later. Already wanted to do a headswap and call it an autonomous model. I posted this before nearly a year ago and it hasn't changed much. The red/blue lights are altered, the arms actually have more mobility at the shoulders and that's it. Nonethelss I just wanted to show it again because the original pic was never that good. I think this shows it off better.
Oy, flickr. So busy with the picture-taking! It's a good thing, for sure, but helping others get ready for the holidays means I've done absolutely nothing to get ready for my own.
This image was taken with a new lens, the Nikon 135mm f/2D DC. I've been lusting after it for some time, but it's been out of stock everywhere for months, and rumor has it that Nikon will be discontinuing it. Every now and then I check on eBay and on amazon marketplace for any good deals on a used one, and last week when I went to the amazon page I was really surprised to see that amazon had one new one in stock. I bought it even though it was a hundred bucks more than the list price elsewhere, but all turned out well -- amazon reduced the price once I bought it and it was OOS again. So, I called and threatened to deny delivery and re-order at the lower price, and they agreed to just refund my credit card the difference. Yay!
The lens itself is going to take a bit of getting used to, but I can see why it's considered one of Nikon's premier portrait lenses -- the bokeh rendering is superb.
(This image looks significantly better and less crunchy when viewed large on black.)
