Roosting on a dried Knapweed head on a cool morning at Shipley Lagoons in lowland Derbyshire (UK) (2304) - the first 'Dingy' of the season!

The last thing many of the prey of this veteran Blue Heron sees. I was photographing waterfowl when out of the corner of my eye I saw him coming. Swung around ducking behind my camera and fired off a few shots. At 840 mm this was all I got as he wizzed by.

This critter--a Paper Wasp, I believe--was one of a large group that was attracted to something sticky that had been spilled on a railing. While the others went about their business, this one seemed to be checking me out. No wasps were harmed and no humans were stung during the making of this image, however. :-)

We know where to look but we're not allowed to go and look

Most of us our in roughly the same situation of course and the story is roughly the same as it's been for past year... i.e. honey tomorrow

Well let's hope so this time

& why standing next to field 60 miles away is any different to standing next to a field 2 miles away is beyond me

Red-winged Blackbird takes off from a small twig. A windy, dark (ISO 8000) type of day—a fun and challenging time for birds and for practicing feathers-in-flight photography. Joy!

Thanks for looking! (Sorry I've been away. Not able to comment as much this month, but doing pretty well.)

Holly is a remarkably tolerant cat. She seems to k ow Larry isn’t feeling well and let this ginormous dog rest his head on her. Thanks Kris Kristofferson for singing it like you mean it.

My favorite view of this beautiful duck is head on and even better with a dark background. Photographed in Largo, Florida. There is a spot where I can sit and just wait for the wood ducks to get into the best position. The pond is pretty shaded and that helps greatly to get the dark background.

It was a beautiful afternoon on Darling Harbour, the yacht was racing head on towards us, the shot was a split second decision.

Fast forwards 9 years and we're facing down an invisible threat head on. Who would have thought we'd be locked up in our homes for the sake of our lives. Cloudy day greetings to all who stop to look and read, I'm dreaming of a sunny tomorrow for all of us.

Yashka always trying to sit or to lay down as close to me as it possible. He always has a questioning look: well, when are we going to play?!

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

Having been confronted head on by the dominant male this stag deferred and led the herd of young male and female deer up the hill. In his own time the dominant male left the clearing where they had been browsing and grazing to bring up the rear. With an occasioonal backward glance they were soon all out of sight.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

Flying over the Bodega Head on a calm January evening, 150 meters above California's Pacific Ocean coastline, looking South toward Bodega Bay, with San Francisco just over the horizon. This is a panorama, stitched from two frames, each a composite of three images, shot with the DJI Mini 2 drone.

The size and wing breadth of the Lesser Spotted Eagle are impressive. Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of the upperwings which show a distinctive white patch.
