The PRICH1 rolls down Curtis Hill at track speed between Belva and Heman with a nice four unit set of super fleet GP60s on a warm spring morning.

Santa Fe 523 at Heman, Oklahoma on April 22, 1993.

The second section of Chicago - Richmond UPS hotshot 199 rolls through Heman with the 521-535-114 in charge on April 16, 1994. Those intermediate signals that can be seen in the siding did a good job of expediting meets.

Brand new C44-9W 617 leads train VKCPX1 (Kansas City - Phoenix autos) past Heman, Oklahoma and begins ascending Curtis Hill on April 17, 1994. Complete consist is 617-9510-5024-9533 (C44-9W/SF30C/SD40-2/SF30C). They had just met an eastbound intermodal train at Heman which can be seen in the distance heading across the Cimarron River and into the town of Waynoka.

Here we have a pair of EMD high-horsepower 4-axles hauling an automotive train around the big curve at Heman, OK in the fall of 1994.

So much has changed here since this image was taken. Double track added. b&n pillaging the ATSF. GE roaches on every single train now.

A westbound vehicle train comes around the big bend at Heman, OK. Looks like one we should follow up the hill.

This is the first time I've touched LEGO in a couple of years. 12 pieces and not really a build, more of an assemblage. If you squint, you will hopefully see the likeness of Battle Cat :)

Masters of the universe,

In his lair at Snake Mountain, Skeletor and Beast Man observe He-Man struggle against the unstoppable demonic foe Skeletor has conjered and tricked him into confronting.

"You'll never escape my trap, He-Man!" Skeletor cackles madly. "Now meet your DOOM, you insufferable do-gooder!"

I am reuploading this picture because the more I kept looking at my original edit, the more dissatisfied I was with it. So, I had another go at the image in processing and I am now satisfied. Anyway, here's the information I had already wrote for the image awhile back:

The previous day, I was in Waynoka (just a few miles railroad east of here) and caught a glimpse of the local from Amarillo arriving into town with these two Warbonnets. I was unable to get any decent shots, but I got my hopes up that I would maybe catch the same power on the departing local the next day.

My wish was granted. Two Dash 9 Warbonnets are back to back on the L-KAN0361 as they make their journey up Curtis Hill. The 361 local departs from Waynoka in the morning hours every Saturday. They travel back to Amarillo and usually take a cut of cars with them. Here's the local rounding at Helva.

"Helva" is the hill I am standing on. It is between Belva and Heman, OK. Most people know it as Curve 41 from the Santa Fe days. Curve 41 is the largest curve on the transcon, as it whips through 3 different Oklahoma counties.

Its a bit sloppy, but I tried a few new techniques (new to me) and am fairly happy with how it turned out. One of those builds that as soon as you build it, you realize you could have done better.. =)

Q-LPCLAC is my final westbound of the day here at Heman as it crosses over the Cimarron River and starts the battle up Curtis Hill.

After Crimso pointed out that the first pic of these guys made them look more like friends rather than foes, I decided to expand the base, so this looks more like the epic battle it should be. Thanks, Crimso!

I let Mom borrow my camera for her trip. Figured I'd take out the ol' Canon 7D for a spin.

In my never-ending quest to mash things up, I thought it would be fun to mash Star Wars with Masters Of The Universe (it's called Masters Of The Stars). So here's Darth Skeletor with his ride, A-T-C-A-T!

Pretty sure that's what he said.

Happy Masters of the Universe Day!

Heman Ticknor purchased this 183 acre farm in 1835 on behalf of his brother, Dr. Benajah Ticknor. Heman's family lived in the small frame house that was already on the farm, with his brother Benajah joining them in 1840. The cobblestone house was built by Stephen Mills in the style of upstate New York houses, being completed in 1844. At that time, the small frame house was attached at the back of the house, with an additional frame ell built soon thereafter. The Ticknor family owned the farm until 1860.

Of interest to me, a relative on my father's side married into this family (in 1918) , when they lived on a farm in the same area. Thus, I have a personal relationship to this house, so to speak.

Like most who grew up in the 80's, I was a huge fan of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! I've been wanting to build some He-Man figs for a while, and finally got around to it. I do plan to build Battle Cat and I'm in the midst of building Skeletor, so, stay tuned!
