Anna general cargo retrofitted with EconoWind Ventifoils moored up in Alfred Dock awaiting dock level to move into the East Float and eventually Vittoria Dock.
Fitted Ventifoil system: Each unit is a wing shaped element using aerodynamics to create high propelling force relative to its size. Suction is integrated into each wing resulting in double the force.
They can either be installed using a "Plug and Play" installation on a 40ft container, however this results in smaller units, or permanently fixed to the vessel like these are on Anna. There are 2 types of fixed Ventifoils - Flatrack which can be mounted on the hatches and removed by the gantry crane or just retrofitted like these which can be folded down in bad weather.
High fuel savings due to modern aerodynamics, creates a "green vessel".
Anna received these sails around June 2022. I believe Vertom has ordered these for their fleet from EconoWind
