Ketupat is rice packed inside a diamond-shaped container of woven palm leaf pouch. It is commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Philippines.
In most of Indonesia, the tradition on preparing and consuming ketupat is strongly linked to Islamic tradition of lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) celebration. Nevertheless, ketupat is also known in non-Muslim communities, such as Hindu Balinese, which suggested that the weaving of coconut fronds has pre-Islamic origin.

Hello friends, it's been 5 months since my last upload. Many things happened, the most popular is Covid-19 Virus. I hope all of you are fine.
And May 24, 2020 was Eid al-Fitr, so Happy Eid Mubarak for all Muslims every where!

so i finally get the all-systems-go signal from my lovely s-i-l, bahar (hubby's baby sister) and so i excitedly share my first official portrait session!
see, we've been playing this let's-pretend-we're-in-a-photo-shoot! game for a while now ( i love bahar set) and we're always amazed at how fabulously her photos turn-out. it helps, of course, that she's so dang gorgeous! (and kikay, too! HEE.)

First: Happy Eid-ul-Adha to All Muslims around the world
Note: Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice is the most important feast of the Muslim calendar. It concludes the Pilgrimmage to Mecca. Eid al-Adha lasts for three days and commemorates Ibraham's (Abraham) willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son. Muslims believe the son to be Ishmael rather than Isaac as told in the Old Testament. Ishmael is considered the forefather of the Arabs. According to the Koran, Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son when a voice from heaven stopped him and allowed him to sacrifice a ram instead.
The feast re-enacts Ibrahim's obedience by sacrificing a cow or ram. The family eats about a third of the meal and donates the rest to the poor.
