As the surreal year 2020 rolls on towards its end, I found this spectacular sunset photo from 7 years ago. It was the end of a great year, 2013. A lot of interesting things were happening in my life, while it was also the approaching sunset of someone's presence in my life at this beautiful home.
Sometimes beautiful days become even more magnificent when the sun is allowed to set on anything that upsets the tranquility that is essential to a happy life. That opens the door to beautiful evenings turning into magical nights, and incredible new mornings, with even more breathtaking new chapters of life to be forever held and eternally cherished.
That is what I see in the stunning Tampa Bay Florida sunset framed by the boardwalk & dock and palm trees at my blessed home in Apollo Beach. That is how I frame my life,... celebrating days gone by, even the sunsets never to be seen again, while keeping an eye on the path to set sail with beloved sail-mates on the ocean of life and love, to new horizons, and beyond. Flying By A Journey Of Life, A Life Of Journey Flying By - IMRAN™ (Part 5) - (My 124th Flickr Explore!)
Before it is finally time for me to take the solo flight to meet my maker, as I wrote in Part 4 ( www.facebook.com/MyIMRAN/posts/429800292481555 ), there were solo journeys from the start of my life. I was turning 7 living in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1969. That was the year humans landed on the moon, as I had watched on a Germann AEG Telefunken black and white TV in our home live via satellite in Karachi.
I had gone there to live with my amazing maternal grandmother for the sake of better schools than were found in towns where my late father, a civil engineer, would get posted with my mom early in his career. It would’ve been my first birthday away from my parents. School had just ended for summer break when my dad called my grandmother and aunts. He wanted to give me more than one of the greatest gifts.
He asked them to put me on a Pakistan International Airlines flight to Lahore… as an unaccompanied child! I would become the first person in my family to travel by air - and that too as a child alone!
Everyone was scared and worried. They tried to convince him that it was beyond daring and dangerous. My dad’s words, “He’ll be fine!” have rung true for the half century since then. And I’m so glad he did and said that.
To this day I recall being handed over to the PIA stewardess, who then took me to what would become a lifelong habit & need - a window seat in the front. I even kept the circular bright tag that was pinned to my coat lapel that day. “Unaccompanied Child” it said.
But even more than 50 years after that first flight, even after having loved my HappilySingle™ but incredibly-loved solo life, even decades after losing my beloved mother and father, at no moment do I ever feel alone. I always feel, and know, and savor feeling I am always that little boy with my doting parents always by my side.
That is the love and knowledge I will live with -- until the day I am buried by their side, and God willing fly to heaven, an unaccompanied child on his final flight to stand next to his parents for all eternity. Thank you Abu, Ami, and Almighty Allah for everything.

K2 & Kennedy Enjoying Tampa Bay Sunset Scenery At Drone Flight Start Selfie Time - IMRAN™
I was able to take the DJI M3P drone for a quick sunset flight. I find it disappointing that for some reason the ability to do live streaming from the DJI app is gone. I used to do a lot of popular drone flight livestreams with my 6 years old DJI Phantom 4 and its app.
In either case, a quick selfie as the drone took off, with the setting sun behind me painting the sky in incredible shades and hues.
K2 and Kennedy, on the left and right in the picture, sat watching the serene scenery as the drone took off. Clearly another perfect moment to say prayers of gratitude at Maghreb.

K2 (& Kennedy) Consider Duck Hunting Opportunities On Tampa Bay Beach Florida - IMRAN™
K2 and Kennedy were very interested in exploring duck hunting, or at least bird chasing, opportunities when we walked back home this morning. K2 even started looking at stepping down options along the seawall rocks.
I stopped them. I also managed to take a picture of them on the upper rocks, as well as this one. K2, wistfully gazing at the ducks.
But don’t “jump to conclusions”…. The story didn’t conclude there…. !

Spectacular TGIF For Beach & Boating Tampa Bay Florida Right Now - IMRAN™
What a spectacular Friday it is here on Tampa Bay today. It is literally blue water blue sky with puffy white clouds start of autumn tranquility for being on a beach or out boating. My Fridays are very full schedules so I’m working all day. But I wanted to share this SOOC (straight out of camera) security camera image with no editing of tweaking! Almost Happy Almost Meal - IMRAN™
Not that I would torture myself like this regularly I decided to have a light dinner without any meat. So I melted some Monterey Jack cheese over two slices of crispy hot garlic toast topped with some stuffed sliced olives, along with some steamed veggies. Sure, it’s an almost happy almost meal with just water, no soda. 😄 Don’t feel sorry for me. It was actually quite tasty and filling. But just for the sake of safety, I compensated for this anomaly by having warm cake with some rocky road ice-cream.

Size Matters, Especially At Cold Christmas! - IMRAN™
It’s true. Size does matter. Especially when it is frigid weather even in Florida. This is definitely one character whose, ummm, belly is much bigger than mine.
My first ever trip to the USA and New York City in particular was from October until Christmas 1987, as a tourist. Later, I moved to the USA in January, 1989, for my Columbia MBA.
It was my first Christmas living in USA after that. I spent it in Miami. So my love of Florida goes back to the start of my American life even as a forever New Yorker. That was more than three decades ago!
This was taken fon December 25, 1989. It was then the coldest Christmas in Florida. And it became that again in 2022!
I got to meet many wonderful people back in 1989. Many were to become beautiful parts of my life and until years later.
This photo was taken by one of my lovely girlfriends in Miami at that time. Wendy Rust was showing me around Miami when we stopped by this giant Santa.

I love being HappilySingle™ and I love eating, as my waist and double chin have attested to for decades. 😀 Yet I’ve always hated—and avoided—actual cooking. But grilling a burger or steak, and enjoying the fabulous convenience of air fryers for salmon and more? That, I can live with.
Over the years, I’ve discovered that the steaks I make at home often taste better — and are of higher quality — than those served at many restaurants. Exceptions, of course, include the truly outstanding ones I’ve had at places like Eddie V’s and Fleming’s nearby. There are also incredible non-chain steakhouses scattered across cities like New York, Miami, Berlin, San Francisco, and countless others where I’ve had unforgettable meals.
Still, this homemade filet mignon — paired with a touch of greens and a splash of red — was a delicious way to spend a rainy late-summer Saturday.

Thought For Food: Salmon RushDiet: Easy Non-Cooking Cooking - IMRAN™
I’m often in a hurry. I love salmon. I also want a healthier diet. Does that make this a Salmon RushDiet? Oops, yuck. Why would I invoke the name of that fish-faced swine-spawn lame-writer only famous for offending a billion Muslims.
So, as I was writing, I love eating tasty foods of many kinds. But, I loathe regular cooking of any kind. No time. No interest. No patience.
The microwave is my friend. Although I am also pretty good at throwing steaks and black angus beef burgers on a grill. But anything that requires regular cooking and baking are of zero point zero interest to me.
I don’t mind making homemade meals if it doesn’t take time or effort or monitoring or cleanup, or worse, all of these chores. That’s why the air-fryer as well as the slow-cooker are the only other non-cooking cooking I’m willing to do.
Plus, making my own different combinations of marinade for my favorite (and mostly only fish choice) salmon has become something I do often. I can do it in literally 5-minutes prep. That includes creating my own marinade, marinading overnight, air-frying 12-minutes, while I do emails or my French lessons.
Then, (no) boom, no broom, it’s ready. I love the results that for the last few years have been as good as I’ve had at any restaurant.
To mix things up, I’ll throw in a bag of frozen vegetables (or garlic cauliflowers in this case) in the microwave. Those 6 minutes are timed to be completed at the same time as the salmon. Here’s one from last night in 3D on FB at lnkd.in/dFd9BtxU .

I love being HappilySingle™. I love eating—as my waistline and double chin have attested to for decades. 😀 But I’ve always hated, and mostly avoided, actual cooking. Grilling a burger or steak? Absolutely. And thanks to the fabulous convenience of air fryers, salmon and more? That, I can live with.
A salmon dish was my very first experiment with the excellent Philips XXL Air Fryer a few years ago. To my surprise, it turned out better than almost every salmon I’d ordered at even the best restaurants. Since then, I’ve experimented most with salmon, using a variety of ingredients. Each version has been different, and each one has been delicious.
This one was marinated overnight in wasabi, ginger, lemon, olive oil, soy sauce, black pepper, and mustard. I topped it with pineapple salsa and sour cream for visual flair and flavor. The tiny olive slices, each with a dollop of mustard, were a spontaneous experiment in taste and presentation. The result? A definite A++ meal and — as always — one I’m grateful to the Almighty for providing.

Giving Thanks For Fabulous Love Filled Thanksgiving At Florida Home - IMRAN™
That my beautiful beloved friend Kara can pull off preparing and cooking two separate thanksgiving dinners on the same day in two separate cities a hundred miles apart is impressive enough. But for her to pull off doing one of the two in my HappilySingle™ NeverCookedNeverWill bachelor’s pad kitchen is another impressive achievement. Add to that my utter dislike for turkey and love of beef and spicy chickens, and you can understand the greater complexities I introduce to the challenge.
Now imagine a bachelor’s kitchen that is used more as a papers-organizing surface than for food prep. Think of a fridge considered well-stocked if there are 3 bottles of ketchup, a carton of milk, 3 bottles of Pepsi, 4 types of juices, half a loaf of bread, cheese, butter, and 2 types of fruit jam,... plus a few TV dinners & 4 types of ice cream in the freezer, and you get the idea.
Despite all that, this is what she managed to pull off for me.... Melt in your mouth prime rib. Ensuring a bird was still present at the table, she made chicken and stuffing so tasty even I didn’t ask for ketchup, as I am wont to do with typical bland chicken we all get so often.
Sweet potatoes reminding me of ShakarKandee in Pakistan. Handmade rosemary Parmesan bread. Stuffing made with stuff I actually eat and enjoy. A version of cranberry sauce with another of my favorites, pomegranate, added to the mix. All this, not counting fabulous desserts AND cute healthy thanksgiving dinner portions for my German Shepherd dogs Kennedy & K2.
Then she went and did an even larger feast for family a hundred miles away. So I’m giving extra thanks for a thanksgiving filled with great food, beautiful company and stuffed with super sweet extra doses of loving! I hope you all had a great time with family and loved ones.

Standard Disclaimer: I STILL hate cooking and god willing always will (still hate cooking 😊). Other than microwave, and my outdoors grills, of course. But I love making use of kitchen gadgets I do rarely buy. And now the air fryer is paying for itself. The “cleaning up after cooking” part doesn’t completely go away but it’s tolerable for yours HappilySingle™ truly.
A filet mignon on a grill is still tops with minimal fuss. However, being able to marinade a large chunk of meat over a couple nights in one of my secret (meaning so random even I can’t remember what ingredients I threw in) recipes and then let the air fryer do its thing for about an hour while I do something more fun is a delight.
Throw some microwaved herbed steamed vegetables on the plate and that’s a bunch of quick and easy meals right there. And not totally unhealthy. 😉

I’m not a big fan of pasta. Italian food wasn’t common in Pakistan until a decade ago. My niece and nephews probably consume it more now in Pakistan than I do here.
But as kids my siblings and I loved macaroni, which had been brought from abroad by someone. Our beloved mom made it and introduced us to it. Sometimes I’ll make things like that (not plain macaroni & cheese) in memory of her and those days.
The “making of” story I had posted earlier. (Microwave Oven. Air Fryer. Slow Cooker. Rice Cooker. Toaster Oven. Barbecue Grill. I use one or two of these on the rare occasion I “cook” something. This time I put three to use in parallel.
Philips Air Fryer, Chicken Parmesan. Toshiba Rice Cooker, pasta. Panasonic Microwave heated pasta sauce. Around 15-20 minutes total with maybe 3-5 minutes total prep time. Anything reaching 10 minutes of prep or cleanup time is not for me!)

German Shepherd Dogs FaceOff On American Waters Of Tampa Bay At Apollo Beach - IMRAN™
After a relatively cold night with temps in the 50s in the Tampa Bay area, a magnificent Saturday with cool but still T-shirts and short weather made up for it. Even the "cold" 15C night was nothing compared to the -9C at my Long Island, New York home at that time. On Mount Washington -108F (-77 in Celsius!) was something my fingers are trembling even typing!
Kennedy and K2 love playing on the beach. The beautiful flats across my home at low tide make it like a billion dollar private beach on some days. It was definitely worth bringing the DJI M3P drone out to shoot some quick video clips to capture the scenery, and to share with you.

I make my own always random marinade in about 2-3 minutes,. I then soak filets of salmon (the only fish I really enjoy) a day of so in the fridge.
Then 12-14 minutes in the air-fryer for the fish, and 5 minutes in the microwave for the frozen vegetables, and voila! I’m eating a home cooked meal - without messy and tedious traditional cooking. A few drops of various sauces or mustards for my visual and culinary satisfaction, and it’s worth a quick picture. The pink/dark coloring varies depending on what I included in the mix.
I’m so thankful that each time these combinations of my secret (meaning I never remember or repeat the recipe) marinade have turned out just like, or even better than, most restaurants’ that I’ve had salmon like this.

Just a quick 180x180 selfie in a bathing room in the blessed Florida home. Yes, it is pretty sparse since we guys rarely need much dresser space or walk-in closests & changing rooms as I’m blessed with.
I’ve always been “HappilySingle!™” and content with my life, whether I was in the early construction days of my family home in Lahore in the 1980s, my Columbia apartment in the early 1990s, the upper east side place in the mid-1990s, or the truly dream and fantasy homes on the beaches of New York and Florida since. In all cases, the happiness, the joy, the love & lust of life & love have come from deep inside me, erupting into the love-filled souls of those whom I’ve loved and been loved by over the years in a frenzy of unconditional & unadulterated love & passion.
I believe if you can’t be happy by yourself you’ll never be happy with someone else either. The world is full of unhappily alone people just doubly miserable together. That’s not for me. But I’m also not a forever confirmed bachelor.
I am actually an old fashioned romantic at heart as well. When I’m not in ongoing serious relationships I always leave the “her” sides of double vanities & counters — in my NY & FL homes — open and waiting for the beloved breathtaking goddesses whom these spots would love to be filled up by.
