Stopped for my first drink at Spella Caffe, a coffee cart at 9th & Alder, and met the owner, Andrea Spella. He roasts his own beans and pulls espresso on a manual machine... incredible. The single americano he pulled for me was delicious; not a hint of bitter aftertaste. This hand-lettered sign was designed by Andrea (to match his signature) and painted by Senen Angon. If you're downtown, I recommend checking it out in person— the sign and the espresso.

An illustrated guide of "Modern and Historical Typography", from 1948 by Imre Reiner. The first edition was published in 1944. The book has many fine examples of historic title pages, calligraphy, bookplates, labels, billheads and other ephemera, including some nice work of Reiner's as well.
