Shiny neon shoes with Canon Rebel, staged, clicked :) it was Raw and took off. F11. 200. I think 2 sec.
Love the simple design of this potato masher and the play of light and reflections and repetitions and curves.
... than for me to be able to thread that needle ;-)
I hadn't intended doing Macro Mondays this week due to a heavy workload but I was watching my husband taking in a new pair of shorts at the waist when the idea came to me. I confess that it was he who threaded the needle for me to take this shot but with camera on tripod I managed this - for the theme of 'Hand Tools ' Oh and silvery bokeh is a thimble.
Every beekeepers best friend is the hive tool. It is used for maintaining and making hive parts, working with the bees and even when extracting honey. As well as a lever, cutting edge and nail extractor, it can be used to manipulate frames during an inspection, separating the sections of the hive and occasionally killing hive pests or destroying unwanted queen cells. One tool really does it all.
Shadows thrown through the holes in an old rasp. Thought this was a bit more interesting than just photographing the rasp itself.
This is my entry for this week's Macro Mondays challenge, Hobby.
Among my many hobbies (Cricket, Photography, Games, Cooking etc.) I like Woodworking to be one of the best.
Not least because it is the most recent one, but mainly because it is like my job as an Engineer - you imagine, you design and you build, you fail, you correct and you succeed.
Also, as many countless people before me have said, making something with your own hands has a sense of satisfaction that is matched by very few other things.
Setup: I used two speedlights spilling light onto two DIY paper diffusers - one to light the scene fully, the other one to get the shiny bevel on the Chisel.
Although, in reality, those shavings were the result of planing wood rather than chiseling, for me this is a more pleasant image.
Having said all that, MY CHISELS NEED SHARPENING!

You never know what might be kicking around in your toolbox. The little eyeglass screwdriver and wrench are nicely oxidized.
FlickrFriday: Hand tools. For photography, I like any object at home that can be turned into a cool macro, or bokeh.
Our Daily Challenge: Brush(es)
Compositionally Challenged: Reflections week - the brush is a reflection, everything that is 'real' is blurred and turned into bokeh. :-)
365: Day 225
A quick one this week and after a little thought I settled on our Potato Peeler. The advantage here is it would give me a great excuse to cook the Potato after photographing it and sprinkle with Jalapenos and Cheese.
These are my Cricut brand paper tools for crafting. In the center is the Bone Scraper which is 2 & 6/16th" by 2 & 6/16ths". There is a link in the first comment that shows the whole kit.

Crazy Tuesday - Hand Tools
This stainless implement is used to decoratively halve round fruit or veg into a star shape...... I have had this for well over 30 years, have no idea what it is called or where I got it from. I regularly use it for lemons when serving fish and tomatoes before I grill them for an English breakfast or a steak dinner!!
I have tried to find something similar online but nowhere to be found!! I would be very interested to know if any of our Crazy Tuesday friends have had one or got one still?

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊
Screw thread Gauge
This simple tool is used to measure the pitch of a machine screw. Generally, you need one set for imperial threads and one for metric threads. Each toothed blade has a number stamped on it confirming the pitch in either inch or millimeter fractions. This humble tool is essential to engineers and has changed very little over the centuries. However, the world's first national screw standard was the British Standard Whitworth (BSW) devised and specified by Joseph Whiteworth in 1841.
The tool is simple to use, just find the right serrated edged blade for a snug fit between the thread or pitch of the screw you wish to measure.
The arrangement for this shot was laid out on a brass plate. The bokeh was created by scattering some steel and brass swarf on the plate.
Many thanks for all views, fav's and comments! HMM!

Example of common method of asbestos floor tile removal using heavy solid steel "spud"-bar equipped with thick-gauge, sharp-edged blade.
9" x 9" asbestos floor tile shown in non-intact condition requiring regulated work area and engineering controls to create a negative-pressure enclosure for containment of abatement activities. Wetting-agent must also be applied to the asbestos floor material for assistance with controlling potential asbestos fiber release and proper regulatory compliance.
Black mastic also contains asbestos, approx. 10% chrysotile. Although, using such handtools during tile removal seems to create additional concern when the sharp-edged blade essentially scrapes repeatedly against the asbestos-containing mastic. More reason to use wetting-agent on flooring materials during abatement activities.
A collection of screwdriver bits for this week's Macro Mondays 'hand tools' theme. The length of each 'rack' of bits is 5 cm giving an overall image of approximately 7 x 7 cm.
15 images in a focus stack processed in Helicon Focus (option C). Photoshop for dust and speck removal. Lightroom for cropping, split toning and global adjustments. Conversion to mono in Silver Efex Pro.
Many thanks to all who view, fave and comment on this image and the others in my photostream. HMM!
