I took this shot inside the magnificent Dahlia Display at Hampton Court Palace. I decided to carry around my heavy macro lens on that day, which was a wise decision.

Hampton Court Palace is a grade 1 listed Royal Palace dating back to 1514 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey who was the chief minister to King Henry VIII. However, after falling out of favour with the King, Thomas Wolsey returned it to the King as penitence for his disgrace in 1529. Henry greatly increased the size of the palace. King William III continued to expand the palace during the 17th century but contrasting the original Tudor style with Baroque. Today, the palace still remains in the ownership of King Charles III and the Crown, King George II was the last monarch in residence.

Palace and gardens open to the public throughout the year are well worth a visit.

Hampton Court Palace is a Grade I listed royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 19 kilometres southwest and upstream of central London on the River Thames. Opened to the public, the palace is managed by Historic Royal Palaces, a charity set up to preserve several unoccupied royal properties. The palace is open to the public and a major tourist attraction. Apart from the palace itself and its gardens, other points of interest for visitors include the celebrated maze, the historic royal tennis court and a huge grape vine, the world's largest as of 2005.

The Parish Church of Saint Peter ad Vincula

Hampton Lucy is a village and civil parish on the River Avon, 4 miles northeast of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire.

The parish church of St Peter replaced a medieval church that was demolished in 1822 when the Lucy family of Charlecote Park employed Thomas Rickman and Henry Hutchinson to design and build a new parish church in the Gothic Revival style.

The new church was mostly complete by 1826.

The medieval manor of Hampton Court Palace was modernized in 1494. In 1515 Thomas Wolsey began rebuilding and converting HC into a lavish palace. In 1529 Henry VIII takes over building the palace, from where he sends the first letter to Rome threatening to break with the Papacy. The South side of the palace was designed by Sir Christopher Wren for King William III and Queen Mary. The palace served as a location for the 1966 film “A Man for all Seasons.”
