During loading, the small multi-purpose ship HAMMER began listing to starboard. Loading was immediately interrupted and measures were taken to stabilise the vessel.

cause Uma said I had too!

Under a heavy blanket of snow, the rock formation known as "Thor's Hammer" stands as it has for ages overlooking Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

This is a section from a shoemakers or cobblers hammer that is used in shoemaking. I have had it many years and had forgotten all about it until this challenge!

The Hammer Dulcimer is an ancient instrument played by striking the strings with a wooden mallet (hammer.) There are many versions of the dulcimer from different cultures such as the cimbalom. The hammer dulcimer is from the psaltery family of instruments. There are two bridges on the dulcimer. My dulcimer has over 31 sets of strings on it. It is tuned using the circle of fifths. HMM!

Bryce Canyon National Park

Making my way down the Navajo Loop Trail, I couldn’t but help to stop every few yards to take in different vantage points of not only the famous hammer hoodoo but the enitre amphitheater. I tried to get a lower perspective here to bring out some of the textures and plant life. This was one of my favorite hikes in the park.

We could hear this guy coming long before it rolled around the curve and under the Wheeling bridge. One of the best sounding diesels ever built, this pair of Conrail U25B's were on a mission with piggys hammering west at Oak Harbor, Ohio - May, 1978

Hef & I could not resist this White Orange Chocolate Easter Egg !!!!

Thor's Hammer as seen from the Navajo Loop in Bryce Canyon.

Thor’s Hammer – Looks like Thor still has lost his worthiness with his hammer as it is sitting on top this hoodoo in Bryce Canyon. Really, though how can one go to Bryce Canyon and not take a photo of Thor’s hammer. I took a few different perspectives, and I will post some later as I have time to edit them.

Abandoned steam hammer in the abandoned Lancashire smithy ruins.

The canyon below Chestnut Mountain on Bozeman Pass is filled with the sounds of hard-working vintage EMDs pounding up the grade on July 2, 1994. A trio of SD9s, a SD7, three GP9s and a GP35 power an eastbound 640 local and fill the air with exhaust. Who’s who on the head end is as follows: No. 601, former DM&IR (note the nose bell) No. 127, followed by SD7 607 and SD9 606 (both former SP), SD9 608 (former DM&IR), GP9 113 (former NP), GP35 402 (former DT&I), GP9 115 (former CGW) and finally GP9 106 (former NP). The location is at the old Northern Pacific station name of Chestnut west of West End, Montana. We followed and photographed this train all morning, and I only wish I had a recording of it here.

The best known hoodoo in Bryce Canyon is Thor's Hammer, named for the key instrument of the Norse God (Mjölnir in old Norse) and popularized in the Marvel Comics film. Formed by differential weathering of the sedimentary deposits, the hoodoo can be seen from the Sunset viewpoint on the rim, though its best viewing is from the Navajo Trail as seen here.

Couldn't believe how many Yellow Hammers I seen during my week in Scotland.

Apparently the yellow hammer has something to say.

A rebuilt SD70MAC leads train M580 south as it barrels toward Winder, GA on the CSX Abbeville Subdivision. This was one of, if not the fastest, continuously moving trains I've seen on this line in years.

With 50 some loads of trash, a trio of B23-S7's roar in run 8 through the small village of Toboso giving it all they've got to get the ZVNK up to speed on it's return trip to Zanesville. Leading is P&W 2216, a transplant to the OC from the northeast carrier and a short timer on the property as all of these GE U23B rebuilds are slated to be replaced by GP38's at some point this year.

Hammer for MacroMondays : Hand Tool.

Song by Queen.

My collection of hammers, still not complete till 'der Sekretar' sell me his grandfather the little one.

This odd cloud cover had me wondering as to its makeup. As it got closer to the ground, it became darker, appeared heavier, and began to breakup. To me, it was imitating the actions of a blacksmith on a hardened anvil.

It was hammer time, I thought. And the clouds were taking out their relentless actions on the mountain below. Ironically, this aggressive looking weather was happening at Welcome Beach. Typically an area known for its calm and quiet atmosphere.

"Thor's Hammer", capped in snow, stands majestically above the hoodoos below in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah.

Where did all those hammers come from, not sure but I think they will all be in use soon ;o) I was Inspired to see all these so wanted to share in Inspire Me Thursday. Rapping, Rapping, Rap, Nevermore!!! ;o)
