Ice crystals ,
A Sun halo is caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22° angle, creating a circular halo around the Sun.

Rossendale's Panopticon, 'Halo', is an 18m-diameter steel lattice structure supported on a tripod five metres above the ground. From its position on Top o' Slate, an old quarry and former landfill site situated in the hills above Haslingden in the Rossendale Valley, it is clearly visible for miles around.
'Halo' is lit at night using the latest LED technology and after dark glows a sky-blue colour, appearing to hover above the town. This dramatic gateway piece overlooks the A56, welcoming visitors to Pennine Lancashire.

I was out shooting when this fabulous moon halo started showing up. These halos are caused by the moon's light reflecting off ice crystals in the air.

A 22° Moon halo with a rare 9° halo within.
This is a first sighting of two halos around the Moon, I have imaged them with the sun before
Hallo Halo - das war heute Vormittag das Motto am Hohburkersdorfer Rundblick am Rande der Sächsischen Schweiz. Während die bekannte Aussicht aufgrund des Januar-Winter-Dunstes nicht viel hermachte (selbst der Lilienstein war nicht zu sehen), war der Anblick der Baumgruppe um das Weltkriegsdenkmal viel sehenswerter. Die Wintersonne brach sich an den Eiskristallen der kalten Luft und bildete einen schönen Ring im Winterhimmel.

I had high hopes for my shots from San Francisco, however the weather finally caught up with us and things did not go to plan. We wanted the fog on the roadway but it never got lower than the tower tops of the Golden Gate Bridge.
However, shot from the beach, I love this capture with the halos from the tower lights trying to fight their way through the cloud of fog. The fog was only in this position for a short time prior to the sun rising and I was pleased to capture this unusual perspective of this iconic San Francisco landmark.

The whole weekend, the weather was bad and hence I wasn't able to take that many pictures. Luckily, the sun was breaking through for a few minutes yesterday, where I rushed outside to take a few after rain shots. I don't know exactly what flower or plant this is, but I really like the bright bokeh bubble behind the flower head. I hope you like it too!
This was only ever going to be a test shot, taken to prove my settings and wrist action, but my humorous side got the better of me......... a "nice song" by a very nice lady.

A magnificent full moon with the warmth of a glowing lantern, radiating a soft, pearlescent halo that chased away every harsh shadow.
The glowing full moon sits like a luminous pearl atop a silhouette of whispering trees, casting a soft, ethereal aura into the deep velvet sky. A subtle blue-white haze wraps around the moon, emphasizing its brightness against the night.
A compelling, atmospheric night scene centered on a bright moon positioned directly above a prominent silhouette of trees, framed by blurred, colorful foreground elements.
The moon serves as the primary focal point, positioned high and slightly left of the center. The central tree silhouette creates a strong vertical line leading the eye straight to the moon.
