Hacker's Delight is a software algorithm book by Henry S. Warren, Jr. and published by Addison-Wesley Professional. The first edition was released in 2002, and the second in 2013. It discusses a variety of programming algorithms for common tasks involving integer types, often with the aim of performing the minimum number of operations or replacing slow operations by faster ones (e.g., converting a divide by a constant into a multiply by another constant that gives the same result).

The second edition has new chapters on cyclic redundancy code and other error correcting codes. It also has a new appendix containing graphs of discrete functions.

Keyboard Hacking by twitchdotnet

The best hacking is always done with a hacksaw! Microsoft's ergo keyboards are really great, but they extend so far out to the right that my mouse arm sits at an uncomfortable angle. The solution? Remove the guts of the keyboard, re-assemble, saw off everything to the right of the enter key, put everything back in, and fold the dangling circuitry behind the board and tape it there! Keyboard Maestro handles remapping all the keys I lost that I actually use to various combinations of Alt-<Something>.

After I modified my first keyboard this way, the persistent pain in my right shoulder went away within a week. This is my third such hack-job, after the one I use at home came out the worse from an encounter with a glass of water.

One major problem with minilathes -- when making a cut, the tool holder may drift along the x or y axes. Nicer lathes include a locking mechanism to prevent this sort of drift, and so I've added them to my minilathe.

Added a lock screw to the X-axis.

I drilled and tapped a 1/4-28 hole in just the right place. When I tighten this set screw, it presses against the X-ways, so that the tool holder will not drift along the X-axis.
