ตัวบริษัท FARMD Asia เอง เราเปิดมาประมาณ 2 ปี โดยเริ่มต้นเราดูเรื่องปัญหาทางด้านการเกษตรมาเป็นหลัก หลังจากเห็นปัญหาการเกษตรเยอะ ๆ เราก็เลยคิดว่าน่าจะเปิดบริษัทจริงจังเพื่อทำเรื่องนี้ โดยมุมมองที่เราอยากจะทำ คือ อยากให้เกษตรกรได้ใช้ประโยชน์จากมันจริง ๆ สามารถสร้างรายได้ มีผลิตภัณฑ์ มีสินค้าออกไปหาตลาดจริง ๆ โดยผลิตภัณฑ์หรือวิธีการทั้งหมดเราจะมองเรื่องนวัตกรรมเป็นหลัก ในการนำนวัตกรรมมาบวกกับสิ่งที่เราออกแบบ คิด และส่งมอบให้กับเกษตรกรนำไปใช้ประโยชน์
[ เรื่องของเห็ด ]
เรื่องเห็ด เริ่มตั้นครั้งแรกเราไม่ได้คิดจะทำเห็ด แต่หลังจากได้ลองไปช่วยเกษตรกร เราเห็นว่าปัญหาที่เขาคิด คือปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า เขาไม่ได้คิดถึงสิ่งที่มันยาวไปตลอด เขาลืมคิดไปว่าปลูกเห็ดได้ ทุกคนจะคิดแค่ให้มันปลูกขึ้น แต่พอปลูกแล้วจะไปขายที่ไหน ปลูกเยอะ ๆ แล้วจะขายอย่างไร ราคามันก็ตก เราก็มองว่านี่คือจุดอ่อน จากนั้นเราก็เปลี่ยนวิธี จะแปรรูปเกษตรให้ด้วย รวมถึงการขายให้ด้วย ซึ่งการจะทำแบบนี้ทั้งหมดมันมีหลายองค์ประกอบ เราเลยต้องมาวิเคราะห์ มาคิด มันก็เลยเกิดการมอง Supply Chain ยาว ๆ คือตั้งแต่ต้นทางถึงปลายทาง ให้เกษตรกรแทนที่เขารู้แค่จุดเริ่มต้น เขาจะรู้ปลายทางด้วย ถ้าคุณอยากเดินตามวิธีการที่วางให้ คุณจะเดินไปแล้วจบถึงขั้นไหน แต่คุณไม่จำเป็นต้องเดินตามเราหมด คุณอาจแค่อยากปลูกเห็ด คุณก็จบแค่ปลูกเห็ด แล้วเอานวัตกรรมสิ่งที่เราสร้างในการปลูกเห็ด คุณก็เอาไปใช้ แต่ถ้าคุณอยากไปต่อ อยากแปรรูป เราก็มีนวัตกรรมแปรรูป แปรรูปแล้วขายได้ ซึ่งเรามองถึงการแปรรูปแบบยั่งยืน จะแปรรูปอย่างไรให้วันนี้อยากขายก็ขายได้เลย เราก็เลยมองถึงการแปรรูปเป็นอาหาร เลยเกิดเรื่องของเบอร์เกอร์เห็ด จากจุดนี้ เกษตรกรอาจไปถึงระดับอุตสาหกรรม เราก็เลยมองถึงเครื่องจักรกลที่สามารถแปรรูปตั้งแต่เฟส 1 เฟส 2 เป็น เฟส 3 พอมีเครื่องจักรกลในการแปรรูปให้ทำในขนาดใหญ่ขึ้น มีอีกเฟสหนึ่งคือเฟสสุดท้าย ผมไม่มองว่ามันคือการทำเฉพาะเกษตรกรเป็นราย ผมอยากให้เกษตรกรทั้งหมด ทำเป็นสังคมการเกษตร ซึ่งสิ่งที่เอาเข้ามาเสริมคือ E-Commerce กับเรื่อง Logistic เพราะถ้าทำอยู่รายเดียว เรื่องพวกนี้อาจไม่คุ้มค่า แต่พอทำรวมเป็นกลุ่ม ทั้งสองสิ่งจะช่วยประหยัดต้นทุน ให้ทั้งต้นทางและปลายทางที่เป็นผู้บริโภค นั่นคือส่ิงที่เรามองเป็นนวัตกรรมตลอดทั้งเส้นทาง
[ บทบาทของเทคโนโลยีต่อเกษตรกรรม ]
ในเรื่องนวัตกรรมกับเทคโนโลยี บ้านเรามีการทำเยอะพอสมควร แต่ว่านวัตกรรมมันถูกแยกโซน แยกกลุ่ม แยกประเภทต่าง ๆ พอแยกกัน เวลาจะมาเชื่อมต่อกันมันก็เลยขาดช่วง นวัตกรรมสมัยใหม่ เทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ ช่วยในเรื่องการ Connect กัน แทนที่นวัตกรรมตัวหนึ่งจะเอาข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ย้ายไปอีกที่หนึ่ง เดิมนั้นยากมาก ตอนนี้ไม่ใช่แล้ว ทุกอย่างสามารถ Connect ได้หมด ตั้งแต่ต้นยันท้าย ปัจจุบันผมมองว่า เกษตรเคยมีอยู่แล้ว แต่ไม่เคยเกิด Connectivity ไม่เชื่อมโยงต่อกัน ถ้าเกิดเราเอาเทคโนโลยีมาให้เกิดการเชื่อมโยงแต่ละจุด แต่ละส่วน เชื่อมกันได้ ผมว่าจะเกิดบางอย่างที่เกษตรกรอาจนึกไม่ถึงก็ได้ ซึ่งนวัตกรรมตรงนั้นก็ต้องรอดูเหมือนกันว่าแนวคิดต่าง ๆ ในอนาคต จะเชื่อมโยงสิ่งเหล่านี้เข้ากันอย่างไร แล้วเกิดนวัตกรรมอีกสิ่งหนึ่งขึ้นมา ผมยังเชื่อว่าจะยังมีนวัตกรรมที่มากกว่านี้ขึ้นไปอีก

The Hacker-Pschorr tent was where we spent our second night of Oktoberfest. We were invited to join Miles' host family at a large table there which was amazingly good fun. We met all his host brother and sister's friends who all spoke amazing English and patiently allowed me to ramble on in high school level German. Easily one of the highlights of the trip. The roast chicken dinner was excellent as well.
