I took a blade to my JBL headphones today so that the plug would fit in the iPhone. Amazingly it worked.
A good one for Flickr! Not the best from the chase, but, I don't know, one from the chase I guess? Milepost 333 was much nicer, but here's this. SOO 6061, CP 5012 and CP 6243 race to River Junction (Here at the extremely undershot town of Dakota) to make me very angry and not go down the ICE in good light with a loaded dresser ballast train. Reno, you would have been so beautiful...
Two down, one to go. The second Portal North Bridge Arch ducks under three lift bridges on the Hackensack River in Kearny for installation upstream. The arches are constructed in the Port of Coeymans, NY and are floated down the Hudson and Hackensack rivers. While transport down the Hudson is a fairly mundane journey, the trek up the Hackensack River requires maneuvering through the seven moveable bridges within a six mile stretch for delivery to the construction site. The three bridges pictured are PATH's Hack Bridge, Conrail's Hack Bridge, and the Route 7 Wittpenn Bridge.

A juvenile grey butcherbird came to perch close by me when I was gardening, early one morning.
It stayed there for such a long time, watching me and probably looking for any unearthed grubs and bugs that my digging had produced.
It was great to work in the company of this little character.
Butcherbirds are named for their fascinating way of feeding. Once prey is captured, the butcherbird hangs it off a branch or tree fork, and hacks at it, just like a butcher.
It also hangs uneaten food in the fork of a branch or impaled on a twig and will then return to eat the leftovers later.
Grey butcherbird song is a sound synonymous and strongly connected with life here in Australia.

Originally I was going to call this one "In case of fire: Git commit. Git push. Git out" -- true geeks will get that.
Hack, buggy, van.....whatever tickles your fancy. Providence and Worcester train CT-1 is about to tack the former NYC caboose on the hind end of their train in Wethersfield, CT before heading South back to Middletown. CSO 21226 was on loan to the P&W for making the shove over the swing bridge between Middletown and Portland, and sometimes the crew would take it for a ride elsewhere. Not too often theirs a hack in front AND behind the camera.
