la Spatule blanche habite les grandes zones humides littorales et de l'intérieur. Elle a besoin pour se nourrir de grandes étendues d'eau libre peu profonde, et pour nidifier d'arbres ou arbustes car sa nidification coloniale est le plus souvent arboricole, même si localement elle se résout à nicher en roselière. La spatule blanche vole à la façon des cigognes ou des grues, cou tendu, et souvent comme ces dernières en formation. La façon de tenir les pattes et le cou évoque plutôt le flamant. Le vol est assuré par des battements rapides des ailes rigides et est entrecoupé de planés. Son bec spatulé lui permet de filtrer l'eau et de retenir toutes sortes d'invertébrés et de petits vertébrés (petits crustacés, vers, larves d'insectes, petits poissons,...).

The Hortus is mostly in shadow now and the Sun barely rises above the roofs of the surrounding houses. Still there are attractions. One of them is this pretty Heath. It used to be called specifically 'herbacea' but most often went by the name 'carnea'. So often, in fact, that the IPNI in 1999 established that specific as the proper one. Old habits are hard to change, and the Hortus still uses 'herbacea'.
Our Heath is frost-resistant. The white ice crystals today make for a pretty picture on the mauve, yellow and purple flowers.

Just a typical scene from the garden. I'm sure Sethi occasionally wishes it would rain again as in that case Tofu would stay in the house. Tofu has the annoying habit of following Sethi around when they are both outdoors and Sethi doesn't really like that. Although Sethi feels stalked he usually is surprisingly patient and polite with Tofu ....
La Ermita-Santuario de Ntra. Posteriormente en 1972, se realiza una reestructuración importante del edificio dando como resultado el edificio que nos ha llegado actualmente.
La fisonomía interna recuerda al estilo de la Compañía de Jesús tanto en las paredes del templo como en la cúpula del crucero, la bóveda del cañón o la decoración.
Pensado como santuario-monasterio, alberga un patio interior porticado de madera con un pozo central. Consta de dos plantas y habitaciones en ambos cuerpos.
Es un lugar de peregrinación y fervor religioso en toda la comarca desde que en torno a 1580 hubo una “aparición mariana”, traspasando su fama no sólo a los pueblos de la comarca, sino también a otros muchos a nivel nacional y ultramar.

Nosy Be (en malgache : « Nosy : île » et « Be : grand ») est une île côtière de Madagascar située dans le canal du Mozambique, près des côtes nord-ouest de Madagascar. L'île est aussi appelée Ambariobe (« La Grande île » en dialecte local) par les habitants de la région. Il s'agit, avec Diego Suarez et l'Île Sainte-Marie, d'un trois anciens établissements français qui furent associés à l'ancien territoire du royaume mérina pour former l'ancien protectorat français de Madagascar dont l'actuelle république de Madagascar reprend les frontières.
