A proximité de Tournai, le village de Willemeau (649 habitants) a été fréquemment touché par d’importantes inondations. Afin de résoudre ce problème, il était devenu urgent de construire deux ouvrages de rétention des eaux sur le Ruisseau de la Place de Taintignies (bassin versant de 503 hectares), affluent du Ruisseau de Barges.

Après une étude hydrologique approfondie, en lieu et place du traditionnel bassin d’orage en béton, le Service public de Wallonie et la Province de Hainaut ont opté pour la mise en oeuvre d’une solution innovante et écologique : la zone d’immersion temporaire [ZIT].

La ZIT est constituée d’une digue en terre placée sur le cours d’eau qui permet la retenue des eaux sur des terrains naturels ou semi-naturels lors de périodes caractérisées par une pluviométrie abondante.

Ces aménagements s’inscrivent dans une démarche de développement durable. Ainsi la gestion des terres d’excavation a été optimisée dans un souci de réduction de l’empreinte écologique/carbone du chantier. Au strict bénéfice du développement de la nature, le chantier s’est même offert une pause le temps de laisser nicher un oiseau protégé, l’avocette élégante !

bourg même de Saint-Véran Situé en travers de la montagne de Beauregard,avait aussi pour nom, aujourd’hui inusité, de « Travers ».Il existe des villages ou hameaux situés plus hauts en altitude en Europe, mais Saint-Véran est la plus haute commune, c’est à dire que l’on y trouve encore une école, une mairie, et une église.Perché à 2042 mètres d’altitude, mesure prise aux marches de la mairie actuelle village profite d’un climat sec et ensoleillé, entouré de montagnes culminant à plus de 3000 mètres. Saint-Véran a un long passé historique qui remonte à l’antiquité et a connu toutes les vicissitudes de l’histoire du Dauphiné et de notre paysPremier site habité du Queyras, dès -2500 ans avant J.C., la population d’alors a été attirée dans ce petit coin de montagne par l’exploitation de la mine de cuivre, Aux premiers siècles de notre ère, à la fermeture de la mine, le village serait venu s’installer plus au soleil, et n’aurait pris ce nom de Saint-Véran qu’en 700 ou 800 après J.C.Un terrible incendie en 1526 amena les habitants à reconsidérer l’organisation du village : au lieu de le reconstruire d’un seul tenant, le village fut réorganisé en quartiers, ou ruas, séparés par un espace coupe-feu, chaque secteur ayant son four à pain, sa fontaine, parfois une fruitière. On entre aujourd’hui par le bas du villageCinq quartiers se succèdent sur toute la longueur du village

Comme dans le cliché précédent , on voit que la sculpture sur bois a été longtemps autrefois un passe temps des longues périodes d'hiver dans le Queyras ... On en voit des témoignages avec les stations de chemin de croix dans l'église , ou bien encore avec les statuettes de bois sculpté de la crêche de Noel.... J'ai eu il y a bien longtemps le privilège de la voir en plein été malgré qu'elle n'était plus dans l'église.....

Graus, Ribagorza, Huesca, Aragón, España.

Graus es una localidad y municipio español de la provincia de Huesca, en Aragón. Con una población de 3434 habitantes (INE 2021), se sitúa en la comarca de Ribagorza, de la que es capital, en la confluencia de los ríos Ésera e Isábena.

Graus se encuentra en la confluencia de los ríos Ésera e Isábena; y el barranco de Risal, a poca distancia aguas arriba del embalse de Joaquín Costa, también llamado embalse de Barasona por el pueblo que quedó sepultado bajo sus aguas. Aguas abajo de la confluencia de los ríos, el paso se estrecha entre la peña del Morral y la de las Forcas. No muy lejos también se encuentran las sierras de la Carrodilla, el Torón y Esdolomada. En la propia sierra del Torón, es donde se encuentra el punto culminante de Graus, el Galirón, con una altura de 1430 metros. En todo el término municipal, el suelo predomina rocas volcánicas muy antiguas en que predomina el granito como la roca más destacable, sobre un suelo lleno de depósitos sedimentarios marinos que data del Eoceno y del Oligoceno; debido a corrientes marinas lleno de sedimentos provocando la formación de los flyschs, dentro del término municipal.

Predominan encinares, robledales, enebrales, pinares y tierras de cultivos. Suele tener inviernos muy fríos, y veranos moderadamente calurosos; con una precipitación media anual de 600mm.

El término municipal de Graus integra hoy a los pueblos de: Abenozas, Aguilar, Aguinalíu, Bellestar, Benavente de Aragón, Centenera, Ejep, Güel, Juseu, Panillo, Pano, La Puebla de Fantova, La Puebla del Mon, Pueyo de Marguillén, El Soler, La Tosquilla, Torre de Ésera, Torre de Obato, Torrelabad, Torres del Obispo y Las Ventas de Santa Lucía. También están las aldeas deshabitadas de: Bafaluy, Cáncer, Castarlenas, Erdao, Fantova, Grustán, Portaespana y Torruella de Aragón.

El término municipal limita al norte con los municipios de La Fueva, Perarrúa, Santaliestra y San Quílez y Foradada del Toscar; al este con los de Isábena, Lascuarre, Capella y Benabarre; al sur con Peralta de Calasanz, y al oeste con los municipios de Estadilla, Estada, Olvena, La Puebla de Castro y Secastilla.
