The Canada Goose is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body. Native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, its migration occasionally reaches northern Europe. It has been introduced to the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands.
Like most geese, the Canada goose is primarily herbivorous and normally migratory; it tends to be found on or close to fresh water.
Extremely successful at living in human-altered areas, Canada geese have proven able to establish breeding colonies in urban and cultivated areas, which provide food and few natural predators. The success of this common park species has led to its often being considered a pest species because of its depredation of crops and its noise, droppings, aggressive territorial behavior towards both humans and other animals, and its habit of begging for food (caused by human hand feeding).
The oldest known wild Canada Goose was a female, and at least 33 years, 3 months old when she was shot in Ontario in 2001. She had been banded in Ohio in 1969.

la Spatule blanche habite les grandes zones humides littorales et de l'intérieur. Elle a besoin pour se nourrir de grandes étendues d'eau libre peu profonde, et pour nidifier d'arbres ou arbustes car sa nidification coloniale est le plus souvent arboricole, même si localement elle se résout à nicher en roselière. La spatule blanche vole à la façon des cigognes ou des grues, cou tendu, et souvent comme ces dernières en formation. La façon de tenir les pattes et le cou évoque plutôt le flamant. Le vol est assuré par des battements rapides des ailes rigides et est entrecoupé de planés. Son bec spatulé lui permet de filtrer l'eau et de retenir toutes sortes d'invertébrés et de petits vertébrés (petits crustacés, vers, larves d'insectes, petits poissons,...).

Hrastovlje es una pequeña aldea de menos de 200 habitantes a unos 40 minutos de Piran. El lugar es muy bello, el pueblecito está protegido por las laderas de las montañas a sus lados. Se pronuncia Jrastovlie y el nombre viene del esloveno hrast, que significa encina.
Lo que nadie puede perderse de este pequeño pueblecito es su increíble iglesia románica de la Santa Trinidad y sus pinturas góticas que pintó Janez iz Kastva en 1.490. Hay una inscripción en el fresco que nos dice cuando finalizó su obra el artista, el 13 de julio de 1490. A pesar de este bello tesoro, el lugar está fuera de los circuitos turísticos y apenas recibe visitantes.
Los frescos góticos del siglo XV realizados por Janez iz Kastva decoran las paredes, los arcos y la bóveda que cubre la nave principal. Se trata del más grande monumento de la pintura mural medieval existente en Eslovenia.
El interior mide 11,70 m de largo por 6,05 metros de ancho, y está dividido en tres naves paralelas. La iglesia tiene dos pares de columnas sobre las cuales se apoyan sus correspondientes arcos a cada lado. En un extremo de la nave principal se halla el ábside, semicircular. Las naves laterales terminan con unas hornacinas de poco fondo escondidas en el interior del muro. El profundo ábside central es de planta poligonal, y sobresale en el exterior. Hasta el siglo XV las paredes se blanqueaban y se adornaban con una sencilla decoración lineal.
Por sus características arquitectónicas peculiares, esta iglesia es considerada como una excepción en la arquitectura eclesiástica del arte románico en territorio esloveno. Su estilo recuerda a la Basílica Eufrásica de Poreč, construida en el siglo VI imitando en algunos detalles la Basílica de San Apolinar in Classe y la arquitectura bizantina.
