次はこいつで、HTMLとCSSの基本をば。 サラッと読んだけど。 セマンティクスとやらの概念が、今後は大事になってくるのかね。 articleとか、header、footerタグなんて追加されたのね。なんだか面白い。 人が読みやすく、ブラウザが理解しやすく…なのかな。 でもまあ一番気になるのは、こういった新しい概念を参考にサイトを作ったとして、ブラウザ側がどこまで対応しているか、かな。 特に糞IE。

Sorted out the domain name problem and this evening I've made my first-ever HTML5 page and uploaded it to caitlinrowley.com. It's just a placeholder page, of course, and possibly I've not used something quite correctly from a semantic point of view, but it validated (woo!) and is now visible on the domain. Well, to me at least - might take a couple of days to propagate round to the rest of the world...

Built with with HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript, this interactive competition takes advantage of some of the new elements available with HTML5, most notably canvas.
With javascript layering 2 images on top of one another within the canvas element, the user is required to virtually scratch away the top image, in this case with a coin, to reveal either a Passport or a "Keep Scratching" message, complete with scratch audio effect for a more interactive feel. The objective is to scratch and reveal 3 diamonds which then allows you to complete the entry form to stand a chance of winning the Grand Prize of a $ 2000/£ 3000 travel getaway.

1 What you're seeing as the darker area is a floated div within an article ínside a (paragraph) enclosure.
I'm aware that I just shouldn't do that, but check how gecko & webkit solve this: They start it on a new line after its definition point and have it followed by the remaining section of the paragraph enclosure. However the remaining part of the original paragraph enclosure is no longer recognized as a paragraph but as plain #text within the parent element, which in this case is the (article) enclosure.
The difference is signified in this example by the deviant styling of the "Resource Guide" link compared to the other links (they are located within a fresh paragraph enclosure. I should have made these screenshots with the boxes outlined.
The behaviour is completely similar across gecko and webkit (latest versions of firefox and chrome)
